Debbie's Travels

I'm three months into my travels and I 'm only after learning how to upload photos. Jenny did it all the time in Asia so now since I can do it I decided to set up one of my own. I hope you'll all enjoy the photos as much as I'll be enjoying the experience.. Wish you were here moments!

Photos - Click Below

James getting older and cuter

A day in the life of Baby James

Welcome Baby James Quinn

Hope you all enjoy the photos of my little nephew James Quinn. He was born on Suday the 18th of June at 5.08a.m and he weighed 8lb 2oz! He's already a character! Enjoy!

San Francisco

Well I'm into the last 2 days of my trip. Mary headed back today and I'm here until I fly out on Thursday. Had a great week with Mary. Poor Mary clocked up 2000 miles in the last 7 days.San Francisco is a beautiful city. We spent most of our days down along the Fisherman's Wharf and you forget your in a city at all. I've never been in a hillier city in my life. People have to park their cars with the wheels facing out as if it rolls hopefully the curb will catch it.While I was here I visited the Golden Gate Bridge and I was so surprised to see that it actually is a rusty colour and I couldn't leave this city without visitibg Alcatraz.Very interesting spot and one thing for sure the prisoners that were really paid the price. Beautiful city thats well worth a visit. Enjoy folks!

The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon was simply breath taking!I always wanted to see this place and we were so impressed. The scenery is amazing, thedifferent colours of the rock and listening to the massive Colorado river way down below is amazing.Again as with all beautiful places the pictures don't do it justice so you will all just have to go there and see for yourselves!

Viva Las Vegas!

The city of Blinding light. Absolutely crazy! Its as mad and as lively as Bangkok but cleaner! Its not much during the day but at night there's no other word for it but crazy and we loved it. All the casinos are so lit up and they come in all shapes and sizes trying to outdo each other. While there myself and Mary went to see one of the shows which was Legends in Concert. They were absotuley brilliant.WE had a Celine Dion impersonator and she was supposed to be ten times better than herself who was playing across the road in a casino called Caesar Palace. We went to see the waterworks display outside the Bellagio hotel where Oceans Eleven was filmed.By the way George and Brad said to say hi!

City of Angels- L.A

My first port of call when I got into the States was Los Angeles. I stayed with the lovely Celine in Seal Beach in Orange County i.e The O.C. Didn't realise that there was such a place so its here where the O.C is actually filmed.I had a lovely girl called Megan showing me all the haunts of L.A and she drove me around the whole time I was there and a great chaffeur she was in all!On my last day in L.A I got up with my sister Mary. It was great seeing her again as I hadn't seen her since last June. It was from L.A that we hit the road on my last road trip.

Bula from Figi!

Have been in Figi the last 2 days, got in on Monday. Went on a cruise today and it was fabulous! We went to an uninhabited island called Mala Mala and it was exactly like paradise, coconut trees and I've never seen the sea so blue. Did some snorkelling again today. I also did some fishing but I didn't catch a thing so luckily enough they still fed me! The fish managed to eat the bait but I still didn't nail one. We also saw some reef sharks. I nearly died when I spotted one under the boat but there no threat at all to us. The weather has been great and I've been catching a few rays before I head on home. Enjoy

The Kiwi days

Well my time in New Zealand has come to an end and also I said goodbye to Camilla who's heading off finishing her trip too. Had a great 5 weeks travelling around this beautiful country. Had a great time travelling around in the Nissan Sunny we hired for our trip. Fond farewell Camilla and we might see you in Belmullet or in Bristol because neither one of us will be venturing any where else this year!

The Activities Page

While exploring the South Island myself and Camilla signed up to climb the famous Franz Joseph glacier only 3 such glaciers in the world,Fox Glacier only 25 mins down the road and 1 in Argentina.I was a bit worried that we might be walking like John Wayne after I met Sharon and Michelle(from home) in Queenstown who were still a bit stiff 3 days after climbing it!Well we took our chances and we weren't too bad at all!It poured from the heavens the day we did it,even our water proof jacket wasn't so water proof as we were literally wet to our knickers!I never saw rain like it before. That wa sthe day my camera got soaked in my bag but luckily she dried out and she's working fine again, take that all those who said my camera was a glorified disposable! The climb lasted 3 hours and at times it was pretty steep. We climbed up the face of the glacier which was a little over 300m straight up. Had some few when we got to the top! While in Taupo we did a 12000ft sky dive.I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had. I had signed up to do, Camilla said she'd come to watch and once she got there she signed up herself, not bad for a girl who's afraid of heights. The view was amazing. We were free falling for 45 secs. I have to say I loved it and I was very calm,I was worse on the ground waiting to go. From there we went onto Rotorua where we visited thermal pools and geysers. You can see the water bubbling and steam leaving the ground. Its a very active area.

The South Island

For the past two myself and herselfi.e Camilla travelled along the South Island in our rented car we named Jessie. It was fantastic and to round off our lovelt trip there we had some glorious weather and we whipped out the bikinis again and headed for the beach area around Nelson. We also did what the locals called tramping, no its not that sort of tramping on a Saturday night! It was all very innocent we went for a hike in their Nationa; Park called Abel Tasman.Really enjoyed our spell on the South Island. We got the ferry across to the North Island on Sunday and our first port of call here was Wellington. At the moment we're in Rotorua, quite a smelly place. Its an active region full of geysers and thermal pools and they gave off a smell of sulphur which is alot like rotten eggs! Despite the smell, its a nice spot! So anyways, after a long spell of not putting up photos I decided I'll put some up to let you see what we're getting up to, Enjoy!

Horse Riding-Glenorchy

As you can see from the photos the weather has finally improved. I was seriously starting to worry about my tan but luckily enough the day we went horse riding turned out to be glorious. We did some of the Lord of the Rings trail and the scenery was something else.

The journey begins

Met up with Camilla in Christchurch and there we decided to hire a car, its a lovely Nissan Sunny and so far fingers crossed is going like a jet!Preperation for taking on Ann's Nissan Sunny when I get home in 6 weeks. While in Christchurch we had to make a trip to the hospital as Camilla wasn't feeling the may west after her long flight from London. Second time in a hospital with 1 of my travelling buddies, remember Jenny's incident in Thailand involving a moped!Luckily Camilla was giving the all clear to party so she's on the pig's back now! While in Christchurch I caught up with Sharon amd Michelle for the last time as they headed back to Australia.See you in Belmullet girls when you get home in July!

Fond farewell Oz!

These are the last pictures I took in Sydney on my last week in Australia. I can't belive its come to an end, I have to say I felt a little lonely leaving, the biggest part of my journey is over now, 15 weeks in total travelling around Australia. Have to say I've had the time of my life, enjoyed living the life of a backpacker. Met some lovely people all along the way and of course met some lovely souls from our own neck of the woods! Its been a great experience and I've loads of fond memories that will be with me forever some mad, bad, sad and downright ugly (more to do with drink and of course I was never in any!)!!At least its not totally the end of my trip, I've New Zealand, Figi and America to look forward to next and I have to say New Zealand has got off to a roaring start already! Met up with Sharon and Michelle again from home when I flew into Queenstown on Tues 31st Jan. Today I'm in Christchurch where I met with Camilla (my travelling buddy from up the coast) who flew in today. Let the good times begin!!

The travelling Times!

Here are a few more photos from the last leg of my trip in Australia before I headed onto Sydney. A distant memory now

Hi Deb,

Got message from Laura this mornings. She is feeling much better. Antibiotics are beginning to kick in! She's really looking forward to seeing you! Have a wonderful time in the USA. (Which when it comes to you goes without saying!) Give my love to all at home. Even though I love it here I'd love to be popping in to say hello!

Take care and God Bless

Jenny
Response: Hi Jenny,

Hows times with you? Thats good to hear Laura is feeling better. Having a lovely time here in a lovely, hot Figi. Going on a cruise to one of the islands tomorrow. I was sunbathing today. My last chance to catch a few rays before I'm homeward bound. Imagine I got 10 bad mosquito bites last night. Typical I haven't had a bite in 6 and a half months and I get one now(they had feasting on you or Camilla so they missed me!) and I'll be going home with marks on my leg.Its only one they attacked too and I'm not complaining! Hopefully the tan will cover them
Talk to you soon missus!
Take care,

Hey there,

Ya have it all planned out, sounds great. If your thinking of doing a ski-dive do it NZ. We did it in Taupo and the scenery was fab. Cant remember who we did it with now but I'm sure there's not too many of them around. If you do manage to do it spend the extra few pounds and buy the video, we couldnt afford it and regrett it now. You get a free one anyway but it doesnt follow you down. Was the best thing I did, such a buzz after.
Las Vegas will certainly be different for Paddys no doubt ye'll find an irish spot somewhere with plenty of baby guiness' to be had.
Take Care and see you soon, not long left now....... so enjoy!
Luv Caz
Response: Hi ye Caroline,

I did the skydive and it was fantastic!!One of the best things I've done on this trip. Abolutely loved it!I wasn't a bit nervous going up on the plane, I was more so on the ground, it was over too quickly. I didn't get the video either, we were a bit like yourself strapped for cash but we got the free dvd too and we always have the memories!More tahn likely myself and Mary will end up in some Irish joint, we'll sniff one out when we get there!A month today I'll be back on Irish soil, will definitely have to live it up on the last leg of my trip!See you soon!

Love and God Bless

Jenny
Response: Your the bad thing picking on my lovely camera! Dinky Di got a little wet last week when I was climbing Franz Joseph but she's tough like her owner and she's bounced back! she may be ancient but not many cameras would bounce back after the soaking she got. I promise I'll put more photos up,I'm gone wicked lazy!More will be coming in the next few days!
Talk to you soon,

I am now back in London planning my first bit of work since Apr 05 - oh no! Anyway continue to have a great time.

How are you my ole friend! Fair play that you've still kept up with the life style you got used to while travelling i.e chilling and not doing any real work! I took a leaf out of your book and have pretty much done the same!Had a great Christmas and New Year in Brisbane with Jenny's family. It was strange being out here for Christmas in this heat. Best of luck with the job and everything else London has to offer.
