Monday, 02 January 2006

Location: Manly - Home, Australia

N got up a ridiculous hour of the morning to head back to Perth, J left at a more reasonable hour.

Unreal to think that I'm on my way home - sob, sob, sniff, sniff

But hey it means you can all stop wasting time at work checking the website and just come out for a drink instead - see you all very, very soon xx

Oh and D - behave!!!!!!

Sunday, 01 January 2006

Location: Manly, Australia

Last day for J and N so had to make the most of the hottest day in 74years - and funnily enough headed to the beach but not before a new years day roast which went down a treat - first roast in 5 months, bloody good!!

Eventually had to leave the beach and head back to the hostel to pack.

Went out for a quiet evening of Fish and Chips on the beach and a couple of drinks in the shark saying goodbye to everyone - sniff sniff!!

Saturday, 31 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

New Years Eve

Rediculously hot day so spent the moorning chilling out and pampering ourselves.

Caught the 4pm boat across and went to meet Caroline at her hostel for a few pre 'Disco Inferno' drinks.... definately had a few, plus the free champagne - how awesome ( they're not this generous back home!!)

Headed out to get a good spot for the firework, D and J managed to loose each other but at least we weren't on our own... the foreworks were just amazing, not sure I've ever seen anything like it, SOOOOO COOOOOL!!

Headed back to Disco Inferno to finish the night of with a few cheesy dance tracks...

Friday, 30 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

Actually got up early and got the boat over to Sydney - a day of shopping!!

Got to see the Operah House, Harbour Bridge etc - very cool and have taken lots of photos!!

Main mission for today was to buy a jumper and warm shooes - I don't want to go back to winter!

Haadd lunch and chilled out with a few glasses of wine beore dropping our buys back in Manly and catching the boat back again to go up the sky tower at sunset... this was really cool but the photos look a bit crap - oh well, it's the memories that count.

Thursday, 29 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

Unbelievably hot day - so spent the whole day on the beach working on the tan ( it's bound too have gone by the time I get home!!) D not feeling great so joined us later, just in time to say goodbye to Linda our sweedish friend from the dive boat.

Another quiet night - working our way up to New Year!

Wednesday, 28 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

A very non eventful day - rather bad headache had by all... too hot to be in the sun!!

Evenntually left the hostel to go do some sales shopping, decided life was much to hard work so got something to eat instead!

Said goodbye to Andy and collapsed back on our beds!!!!!!

Tuesday, 27 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

Yet another day down the beach - it's just too hard!!

Andy's last night so a big group of us headed out for pizza and a few quiet drinks, until we hit the shark bar and everything went downhill from there....

Monday, 26 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

Spent a lot of today in bed recovering from the last few days of festivities... managed to haul ourselves out of bed and back to the beach - funnily enough thee boys went surfing!!

Actually stayed in tonight but still had one or two drinks just because we can....

Sunday, 25 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

A later start to Christmas Day as all still slightly drunk... gave each other our not so secret santa

Andy - plastic sword, cricket set and T-shirt
Juzy - koala mug, very odd pottery koala(oops lost that!) and belt
Nic - ball throwing type of sling shot, sexy pants, mirror!! and T-shirt which promptly got nicked
Deb - cap, turkey baster and T-shirt

god knows what all of those things say about each of us!!

Funnily enough went to the beach and could actually surf today - J spent most of the time drowning while D laughed, N still improving with his surfing and A just showing off!!

In the evening had a massive beach BBQ with Andy's mates and plenty of goon......

Saturday, 24 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

Well it's Christmas Eve and it's over 30degrees so what do you do... you go to the beach of course!

Had a great day messing around - still no surf though

Met up with Andy's mates from his course and guess what - went to the Shark Bar... celebrated Christmas in there and at some point wandered home!!

Friday, 23 December 2005

Location: Manly, Australia

This is the first day of lots of long lie ins and going to the beach - yippee!!

Unfortunatly for the boys there was little surf but at least they had each other and could play catch together - how sweet!

Decided on a sensible night after all tomorrow is Christmas Eve so went to meet Deb's cousins who were staying with their other cousins who live in Manly - their road had more lights on it than I think Guernsey owns... it's finally starting to feel slightly Christmassy!!!!

Thursday, 22 December 2005

Location: Gelong - Sydney, Australia

Finally the pampering had to stop and it was time for me to meet back up with my fellow travellers plus Andy.

Said goodbye to Amanda and Chloe (still very cute) and caught a flight to Sydney.... arrived in Manly just before 8pm and funnily enough got on the goon and headed for the aptly named "shark" bar...

Wednesday, 21 December 2005

Location: Gelong, Australia

I love these lazy days!!

Had a really chilled out morning then headed off into Gelong. Amanda showed me where Travis proposed!! - how romantic! And then we went shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!.... was more restrained today after yesterdays spending spree - Christmas is coming up and I need all my money for goon!!

Went out for dinner in the evening and polished of yet another bottle of wine -- oops!!

Tuesday, 20 December 2005

Location: Gelong, Australia

I love double beds!!!

Went out with Amanda and Chloe to Torquay - very beautiful and definatly warmer than Torquay at home!
Went shopping... Amanda knows my weekness!!! I now have very little money left but loys of T-shirts and short skirts which are obvously going to be of great use back in Guernsey in Jan!! Oh well, you only do it all once...

in the evening had a BBQ which was real Oz style!

Monday, 19 December 2005

Location: Byron - Gelong, Australia

For the first time in over 4 months D and J split - weep weep!!!

J off to Gelong to see Amanda, Travis and baby Chloe (how cute).
Arrived early evening and Travis collected me from the airport. Drove back to their and was greeted by Amanda and Chloe - wow she's a beauty!

Spent the evening catching up and chilling out, oh and making to most of having a room to myself plus a double bed - luxury!!

Sunday, 18 December 2005

Location: Byron Bay, Australia

Managed to make it out of the room about miday - oops!!

Headed to the beach where D and J literally entertained Nic all afternoon - before you get excited this just involved playing catch where Nic threw the ball as hard as possible and D and J went to collect it!!!! Waht is it about boys and balls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a fairly chilled out evening watching Liverpool play abd a few quite drinks - how civalised!

Saturday, 17 December 2005

Location: Noosa - Byron Bay, Australia

Again another long coach journey but this time we picked up Nic in Brisbane... so now there were three!!!!

Arrived late afternoon and D and J met up with our Sweedish friends as it was one of their birthdays and tested out the delights of Cheeky Monkeys... for those of you that have been what a great place, for those of you that haven't, dancing on tables is definatly the way forward!!!!!

Friday, 16 December 2005

Location: Noosa, Australia

Got up early to walk around the National Park and see wild Koalas!!!! Very excited!

Wandered round aimlessly foe about 4 hours before finding them... very curte. Decided to spend a few well earned hours on the beach before heading to town to do some shopping.

Spent the evening in the bar and D roped us into a pool comp which luckily we weren't to first to go out!!

Thursday, 15 December 2005

Location: Hervey Bay - Noosa, Australia

Set off again, this time to Noosa... got delayed so arrived mid afternoon.

Wandered around the town as they were having a Christmas carnival - all very bizarre as it was like the summer town carnival back home but with Father Christmas!!

Early night recovering from Frasier...

Wednesday, 14 December 2005

Location: Frasier - Hervey Bay, Australia

Headed back to Eli creek for our early morning swim - still so refreshing then drove round the island exploring, it's great dun being in a 4 wheel drive and not going on roads!!

Ended up back a Lake Makenzie for the final hour so had our last swim and sunbath brefore we got the ferry back.

Unbelievably there was a massive storm when we arrived back on a total black out of Hervey bay!! Thank god we were staying in the hostel that night!!

Tuesday, 13 December 2005

Location: Frasier Island, Australia

Up early as the sun makes you backe in your tent!!

Headed up to Eli Creek for a swim/wash!! It was such clear water and so refreshing... carried on heading northish and stopped at the ship wreck, it was awesome the was it is just half burried on the sand but you can still identify all parts of the ship... carried on up to Indian head where there are supposed to bre loads of Tiger sharks (it's mating season!) we saw a seal and a Manta Wray!!!!!!!! It was however a beautiful view.

In the afternoon went to another lake whewre there were baby Turtles just swimming right by the shore - how cute!

Set up camp again and cooked dinner - steak and salad highly original but still good!! and guess what a lot a goon and drinking games!

Monday, 12 December 2005

Location: Frasier Island, Australia

Early start to collect all the camping equipment and pack the 4 wheel drive.

Arrived at Frasier and went straight to Lake Makenzie - wow!! it is just so beautiful, the perfect place to chill out and relax and virtually deserted. Headed south and had some lunch before setting off again driving along the beach to find our camping spot for the night.

What a feast of steak and salad, just perfect when you are camping and a huge amount of goon!!!!!

Sunday, 11 December 2005

Location: Agnes Waters - Hervey Bay, Australia

Redicuously early bus to Hervey bay... spent the day by the pool and getting ourselves sorted for our Frasier Island trip.

Met our group, luckily Yvonne and Orla are in the same group as us so we know it's going to be fun... went shopping and bought a few bits of food and loads of alcohol - oops!

Saturday, 10 December 2005

Location: Agnes Waters, Australia

Got up and sorted out having a surfing lesson... it was a rediculous as it sounds. D, J and Orla plus 15 eight year olds - wonderful!!!

Luckily we all stood up at some point during the 2 hours and we actually have proof as Yvonne decided not to surf due to the 3rd degree burns she had sustained on the boat (Irish + red hair = very, very white skin!!) and so was the official photograoher for the day...

Actually felt quite tired but still managed to drown ourselves in a box of Goon and go to the pub... met loads of locals and get a lift home in a police car, plus they turned on the nee naaws - how cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, 09 December 2005

Location: Agnes Waters, Australia

Why is it that overnight busses always make you feel like crap!

Arrived at Cool Bananas (possibly the best hostel in the world) and just spent the day chilling out.

One of the guests in the hostel cought a huge fish so that night dinner was provided for free (wow!!) and it was totally amazing.

Thursday, 08 December 2005

Location: Whitsundays - Airlie Beach, Australia

Not a good day to be out in the sun!!!.... everyone has rather large hangovers but it was worth it!

Had a lesurely sail back to Airlie Beach and was rather dissappoined to be getting off the boat, it was an amazing few days.

Stayed around the lagoon with Orla, Yvonne, Lou and Dan as we were all homeless... so had to wash and change in the outdoors how classy!

Met all the others from the boat for dinner and drinks then headed for the wonderful 12hr overnight bus...

Wednesday, 07 December 2005

Location: Whitsundays, Australia

Very early wake up call - why is it some people find it hard to sleep when they've been drinking the night before!!!! Oh well, it could be worse, we are sailing in the most beautiful part of Australia. Arrived at an excellent snorkelling sight, almost as good as some of the diving sights up north.

In the afternoon arrived at South Molle Island and just sank into the pool, wow - it's sooo nice to feel clean!! Indulged on some cocktails before heading to the bar where we werre meeting another boat for dinner and drinking games - let the party begin!!

We stuffed the other boat with the drinking, dancing and general partying and left tha bar at 2.30am to get on the tender back to the boat!!

Oh and one of us fell into the sea - luckily it wasn't J or D but poor Micheala got a very quick sobering up!!!

Tuesday, 06 December 2005

Location: Whitsundays - 'The Card', Australia

Met down at the jetty for 8.30 and then were taken on board 'The Card' - what an amazing boat.

Set sail and soon got roped into 'grinding' - putting the sails up...not anything else!

Went and did some snorkelling then arrived at Whitehaven Beach...oh my god the place is just awesome, pictures just don't do it justice. Spent about 2 hours in awe, just wandering along the beach before being picked up in the tender and taken back to the boat for the drinking games to begin!!!!!

Such a great night with everyone telling jokes and everyone telling Phil (the weird guy) to shut up!!!!! Well I suppose every boat has to have one strange one!

Monday, 05 December 2005

Location: Airlie Beach, Australia

Yet again went down to the lagoon - but funnily enough it wasn't until the afternoon!!

D had a great time shopping as well while J enjoyed sleeping!

Met up with our group for the sailing trip...not many men, apart from one very weird one - just our luck!

Sunday, 04 December 2005

Location: Airlie Beach, Australia

Stuck here for an extra few days as original boat trip cancelled so not leaving now till the 6th - still we now get to go on the boat we wanted to and get lots of free accomodation!!

Spend the day down at the lagoon, swimming and sun bathing, sunbathing and swimming, oh and doing the odd bit of shopping!!

Went out in the evening with the irish girls from our room - what a night!! Airlie is definately a good place to go out!

Saturday, 03 December 2005

Location: Magnetic Island - Airlie Beach, Australia

Bloody typical the sun's out and we have to leave this afternoon!! Still got in a few hours of roasting in factor 30!!

Arrived in Airlie beach that evening and bumped into Linda immediately, it was lovely to catch up with her and have planned a night out in Byron for her friends birthday - god we are orgainised!!

Friday, 02 December 2005

Location: Magnetic Island, Australia

Almost cried this morning as it was raining when we woke up - boo hoo!

I say almost as luckily the day was saved by the lads in the dorm coming up with the great idea of going to the pub instead and having fish and chips for lunch... what better way is there to spend your time on a rainy day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say most of the afternoon was a right off with us all fast asleep! D however saved the day by drinking more gin than ever and becoming that evenings entertainment - good girl!!

Thursday, 01 December 2005

Location: Magnetic Island, Australia

Such a beautiful day today so spent hours lying by the pool and just chilling out - got to keep working on our tans!!!
This is definatly the life for me!

Wednesday, 30 November 2005

Location: Cairns - Magnetic Island, Australia

Headed off to Townsville then cought the ferry across to Magnetic Island - wow!!

Such a beautiful place and the hostel is so chilled out... had a few beers and listened to some pretty decent music in the bar - which is quite an achievement for Australians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, 29 November 2005

Location: Cairns, Australia

Very lazy day as sick of getting up early...headed off into Cairns for the afternoon to do some much needed aussie shopping - buying boardies!!!!

Got rather sick of the number of tacky tourist shops - no I really don't want to buy 'my friend came all the way to Oz and all she bought me was this T-shirt' rubbish so headed back to the hostel and ate a fantastic mexican for about 3 squids - bargain!!

Monday, 28 November 2005

Location: Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Moved reef's again, this time to South Norman, by far the best one so far - Malaysia is still winning though!!
Three more dive today plus loads of snorkelling as have to make the most of the last day!!

Got back on the sea cat to take us back to Cairns and was given lots of free wine - always an added bonus!

Felt absoutly knackered but still went out for dinner with loads of the people on the boat, luckily most of us are heading south so am sure we'll see them in Sydney for Christmas!!

Sunday, 27 November 2005

Location: Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Up before 6 to do our first dive at 6.30.... early morning dives are by far the best, the visability is soooooo good and you get to see loads. Unfortunatly D's ears have gone funny so is missing out on the rest of the hoo!
All of todays dives were on Saxone reef which was pretty cool, especially the night dive...on my god the Giant Travelli are huge and it's soo much fun, especially with the phosphoresence - how cool!

Saturday, 26 November 2005

Location: Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Can you guess - got up early again as going on a liveaboard boat for 3 days to go diving on the Great Barrier Reef!!

Had 8 people in our group who were all just amazing and we got on so well. Did the first couple of dives on Hastings Reef which was ok - not Sipadan!!! I think we've been spoiled!

The boat was great fun though so it made up for it as well as the food which was just fantastic!!!

Oh my god 2 more days of dive, eat, dive, eat, dive, eat, dive, cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, 25 November 2005

Location: Cape Tribulation, Australia

Spent the day wandering round the rainforst doing pretty walks!!! and sunbathing on the beach, it is such a hard life - I'm sure we'll cope with another month of this!!!

Headed back to Cairns again!

Ventured into town in the evening - oh my god how tacky.....lasted a couple fo hour before g&t back at the hostel was by far the best offer!!!!!!!

Thursday, 24 November 2005

Location: Cape Tribulation, Australia

Off on another trip - this one to Cape Tribulation.

Got on the bus and immediatly took a dislike to the tour guide - she was so patronising!! Oh well at least everyone had the same opinion!

Stopped off in Port Douglas for a few hours then headed into the Daintree National Park - apparently the oldest rainforst in the world - I'm sure I've heard that one before in Borneo and Central Malaysia!

Went on a river boat ride to cross the Daintree river and find Crocodiles - only saw one but at least we got a photo..... headed up to Cape Trib for a night in PK's.....

Wednesday, 23 November 2005

Location: Cairns - Misson Beach, Australia

Got up redicously early as J off to do a sky dive in Mission beach!!

14,000ft oh my god... it was just amazing, freefalling for a minute before the chute is pulled then 5 mins of just cruising around and looking really silly on the video - lots of waving and big thumbs!!!!!
Have definatly got to do that again!!

Back to the hostel in Cairns and a very chilled out evening!

Holy hell - singing infront of 150 people is scary! Q didn't make it - fogged in...boooo! Went well and necessarily lubricated the old vocals excessively at the wedding breakfast and beyond! You'll be pleased to hear that Matt was seen buying rusks and nappies in Boots yesterday! Panthers beat Cubs ...again...after our victory when it didn't matter. 5 games and five goals for me though last week - so we'll have you next time! Another wedding this weekend and Ellie and I are making use of tenner fest. Hoope you're both hunky and dory.

Sounds a good trip so far! Singapore may be a bit boring but you're welcome here for as long as you like.Don't know if our sleeping arrangements are at your standard. Remember Singapore is clean and tidy and you get a fine, jail and strokes of the rattan (very sexy) when you misbehave. We'll meet you at the airport when you arrive. We have a month in Australia before you come so we have to survive that too. By the way - the weather is very wet!
See you 15th Nov.
Response: Sounds like we need to be on our best behaviour!! Have a wonderful time in Oz and see you on the 15th - thanks for the place to stay we're really looking forward to somewhere clean!!!

Missed you in the touch rugby last night - lost 4-2 but think we are playing the same team next week in the finals (joy!).
