Location: Maui, Hawaii, USA

Ok, ok, ok...I still have to finish updating my website from the honeymoon...but I'm currently in Seattle waiting for our flight to Maui! :)

Talk about the summer of Frequent Flyer Miles!

We'll be in Hawaii until the 18th, well, we technically get back on the 19th, but you know the drill with the time zones.

We're off on another adventure...I'll try to keep this updated better... :)

Location: Nice, France

Today was a much better day! Once we were ready we found a McDonalds, I had a Big Mac and Brad had a cheeseburger, I do not think that either of us has ever eaten so fast in our lives.

After lunch, we took a walk to the beautiful water features of place massena, and then walked to the sea, we have some fantastic photos! After enjoying the view, we continued on our sightseeing. We walked to and up the chateau de Nice to the parc de la Colline du Chateau, which is high above the city, and more great photos. The trek down was much easier than the way up.

We ventured out for dinner a little while later; hoping we would find something and we did. We found this great place that looked out onto Place Massena. Brad had a pasta and I had a pizza. The food and view were great, and our waiter spoke English, so it was even better!

On our way back we stopped at the grocery, we now have breakfast for tomorrow.

Well, I am off to bed. I am going to try and look at our Nice book so we can have some activities planned for tomorrow. We might go to Monaco, but we need a little more info on it first. We are also a half hour from Italy, so we might take a trip there too.

Location: Nice, France

Today we arrived in Nice, and we are not 100 percent ok with the location, not even 25 percent, more to come later.

Our trip to Heathrow went well, the flight was smooth and we were even served lunch, which we were not expecting, but we were glad to have.

When we arrived in Nice, it was sunny and warm, both welcome sights! Thank goodness, I don't think we could have handled any more cold rainy days!

Anyhow, after we got off of our plane, we boarded the 98 bus to our hotel, or at least an area "near" our hotel. Now, since neither one of us speak French, going to France may not have been the best decision, but we are trying our best.

Apparently, we got off the 98 too soon, and after asking multiple people for directions, praying that they spoke English, a few choice words, and my luggage breaking, we finally got to our hotel. Our hotel is ok, but in no way, shape or form is it what Travelocity said it was, and the photos were not correct either, but we are making it work.

We ventured out to find something to eat twice, with no luck. We did find a grocery so we have water which is a good thing. We found ourselves at the hotel bar to have a liquid dinner. We tipped the bartender, which was to our disadvantage as he brought us prawn sandwiches. Had we not tipped him, we would have had peanuts, that is what we get, but I did enjoy the olives!

Once we were back to our room, we feasted on cheese and peanut butter crackers and fruit snacks, they are keeping us going! After our gourmet meal, we decided to call it an early night. I think both of us would do anything to be anywhere else right now, hopefully we can find some food tomorrow and start to like it here, but it is very beautiful. I have never seen the sea as blue as it is here!

P.S. Lesson of the day, in Nice pizzeria does not mean pizza!

Location: London, UK

This morning, well, we were quite tired. We made it downstairs just before they stopped serving breakfast. As soon as we were done with breakfast, you guessed it, we were napping again, (we're slowly, but surely getting over our jetlag).

After our nap, we were off. Our day started on a search for a Boarder's bookstore Brad had spotted Friday. After some walking, we found it, and purchased a book on Nice _ which looks to be quite helpful! We also found some beautifully colored scarves, they are just fabulous!!

Next, we were off to the Tate Modern. We crossed over London Bridge, abd I help)ed to hold it up :)

On our way to the Tate, we stopped by Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, which has been restored to nearly the same as it originally was, it's quite breathtaking!

While at the Tate, we also visited the exhibit, Dali and Film. This was fantastic, as I enjoy Dali and have studied his works in, many classes.

Afer the Tate, we got a bite at Eat., right next to the Thames. I was then brave enough to cross the Mellenium Bridge, talk about a near panic attack!

We walked past St: Paul's cathedral, and through it's flower gardens, they were beautiful!

We then went back to the hotel, rested (do you see the pattern here), and then headed to Piccadilly Circus to get some fantastic photos!

We met an older couple from Indiana who were kind enough to take our photo in the center, the photo was perfect.

On our way back, we stopped at Tesco for some food, which is out stop at least twice a day.

I best be off now to start packing up some things, as our flight leaves tomorrow at 3, checkout is at noon tomorrow, so after breakfast, we will finish packing, checkout, then get our tickets to Heathrow. We've had a three day pass, which has been the best idea yet! This has allowed for unlimited rides in all of Central London and then some!

Well now I truly must get to packing, it's 007 and I'm just getting use to military time.

Location: London, UK

When I asked Brad to help me write today's entry, his response was "today, Kelleigh made me tour the city."

After breakfast, we went to the British Museum, we retraced our steps and took a photo in the place of my note taking...ah memories. After soaking up the histroy, we headed to Leicester Square to check for theatre tickets. Now Live 2007 was going on in the Swuare, which gave a wonderful sample of the many shows currently in London.

Next, we were off to Trafalgar Square to see Lord Nelson. I was sure to get a photo, so that it could be displated at the The Nelson household...I'm sure he's a realtive! Sorry, we're in the UK, no Zielinski's's an English thing.

We were then off to my future home, uh, I mean, not any more since I'm married, but anywho, we were off to Buckingham Palace. We got some splendid phtoos! On our way back, we took a stoll through St. James's Park on the Princess Diana Memorial Trail. I had an ice cream cone on the walk, which made it even more perfect.

We then took a sightseeing walk, passing by such landmarks as the Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the British Airways London Eye, Cleopatra's Needle, and along the Thames.

Harrods! Harrod's was next on our checklist, of course we picked up the traditional Harrod's Tea, as well as a lovely Westie bag I have wanted for years. The rest is top secret until we return. Leaving Harrod's we found the "proper" tube station to arrive in style. The walls were marble, so was the floor, it was spectacular! Especially considering when you compare it to the broken concrete floors and breaking and chipped tile walls of every other stop. Ah, first class. We also got a photo of the Princess Diana and Doite shrine in the middle of Harrod's.

After Harrod's we headed back to the hotel. After a short nap before dinner; we left for Leicester Square. We found a great Italian restaurant and had a wonderful meal.

Once we finished dinner, we were back to the hotel.

Tomorrow we are planning on doing some more sightseeing, and hopefully going to the Tate. The pillow calls, Kelleigh.

P.S. Navigation on the Underground went quite smoothly, even without the Circle Line. We're just that good.

Location: UK

Our welcome to London was stress free, at least when we were in the airport. We found the desk to purchase our ticket from Gatwick to Victoria (Underground stop in central London) and I purchased the tickets - no problem, until we were on the train, and found out we were on the wrong train, but all was well after we paid the price difference.

Our hotel is amazing! It is even more beautiful and glamorous that any online photos! I will be sure to get photos to u-pload when we're home. The other amazing thing is that our rooms have North American plug-ins, so we don't have to worry about converting!

Before venturing out for the day, we both found it absolutly necessary to take a cap. I felt guilty taking a nap as soon as we were here, but Brad only got 2 hours of sleep on the plane, and I only got 30 minutes to an hour.

After a two hour nap and showers, we were off. We headed to Russell Square, where it all began. We then walked to the British Museum, and then around the city. Later we hopped onto the Tube we then go t off at Regent's Park (which is the area in which out hotel is located) and walked around. We foundt he Taste of London is currently going on, so we're going to try to get some information and hopefully check that out this weekend.

When we got back to the hotel, we watched a little bit of a cricket game, and then were were off for dinner.

After a walk to search for food, Brad wanted Subway, we headed back to Leicester Square to find one. On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at the Tesco near our hotel, were we got some delicious pastries, a bag of chips and a 4 pack of Strongbow, for only £2.28.

We had our dinner in our roon, and we are going to call it an early night. Once I'm finishe writing, we're going to map out a few places we might want to see tomorrow. The Circle Line will be cloesed for the weekend, so we will also be mapping our hourney...but the Tube is great, so it wont be too bad at all.

Well, we're off to plan tomorrow...

6:20, and we're already loaded on the plane - wonderful!

Brad has told me to "cut the cord" as he turned off his cell phone...

I am finally excited to be going, I have been excited ever since we checked our luggage. We're going on vacation!!! Now I only hope that I will be able to sleep, as we will arrive in London at 9 a.m. with a full day before us!

I hope the flight goes smoothly - it will help to make the trip go faster, I have brought 3 books, so that should also assist.

It seems as though we are nearly finished boarding - maybe we'll be able to take off on time - that would be wonderful.

Well, time to get situated, London - here we come!

Mind the Gap!

Famous last words - so apparently every flight I'm on has a delay, they found a rock in a landing tire, so they are busy replacing the tire, they said it could take as little as 1/2 hour, so I am hoping that's accurate. Our estimated flight time is 7 hours 42 minutes, so that wont be too bad.

Well, I 'm back to my book...more to come later...

Location: En Route, USA

Our honeymoon begins! :)

We are leaving in less than 1 hour! We're both so excited an hopeing that we have everything we need for the next two weeks! I'll try to keep this page as updated as possible. I will be taking a journal daily, so I'll try to make it to an internet cafe to upload photos and write on the page...if I can't, be sure to check back!

Our trip begins in London, and then we are off to Nice. After Nice, we're off to Paris...nothing says romance like Paris! After Paris, we're headed to Brussels...I hear the beer and chocolate are wonderful, and you can watch them make lace by hand...which I hoping to bring some home. After Brussels, we're off to London for one more night, and then we return to the states.

We will miss you all so much!

Love Always,

Kelleigh and Brad

As I have in the past, this page also serves as an update of possible travel plans sounds like the Dominican Republic is in the planning for this coming January...and of course a honeymoon in late June or early July, 2007. I'm hoping that we can honeymoon in Spain and Italy (since Spanish is the most romantic language ever, and since I love Spain). I would also like to go to Italy, because I am not one to pass up a wonderful glass of wine, and I figure that Spanish is very similar to Italian, so it will give me a good opportunity to exercise one of my majors!!!!

Location: Cozumel, Mexico

Our last morning in Cozumel had to be the best, at least at the hotel! We woke up at 6:00 so that we would be able to leave the hotel by 8:30 to get to the airport. There was a beautiful sunrise, and I hope I captured a tenth of its beauty in my photos. My morning coffee was delivered at 6:25 a.m. – as though they knew we were up extra early. We enjoyed one last breakfast. I had a wonderful smoothie with pineapple, strawberries and watermelon – it was great! Brad requested that I now make him breakfast every morning, since he is now use to it. I added that I too was use to it; so needless to say, tomorrow we will both be fending for ourselves.

We arrived at the Cozumel airport around 8:45, minutes later, we were told our flight was delayed 20 minutes which sucked, but we could deal with that. Once we were about to check in, we got the really bad news, or I should say, our bad day had just begun. Our flight which was to leave Cozumel at 11:30 and arrive in Minneapolis at 3:40, now was not leaving Cozumel until 2:20 – how wonderful! A 3 hour delay!!

Checking our luggage was our next joyous event! The guy was a jerk and a half, and needless to say, the bag that I could lift, just fine, weighed in at 67 pounds. How I can easily lift a bag that is over 50 of my body weight, it still beyond my comprehension! So I needed to pay a $25 USD charge. Do they accept traveler’s checks? NOPE!! Credit Cards? NOPE!! Only PESOS!!!!! This means that TCF now loves me, because not once, but twice did I have to use the ATM in the airport because I was kicked off the first time. I cannot wait to see those access charges!!

All and all, we finally got our luggage taken care of; my next trip will not be to Cozumel!!!!!! After a beer or two, life was back on track, and I was more excited to leave Cozumel than I was to go there in the first place.

Good news beings when our plane arrives early, for us that is. We were loaded and ready to go by 1:45 or so. The pilot come across when the door to the plan has been sealed and tells us that 4 people had missed the loading calls. He then asked who wanted to get them and who wanted to just leave…long story short, those 4 people are still in Cozumel!! 

Our flight back has been Ok. I was able to sleep for 30 – 45 minutes, but there has been a good amount of turbulence as a result of a storm in the Gulf. The flight attendants said that Air Traffic Control has shut down all of the air space over the Gulf as a result. It’s 4:20 right now, so we should be landing in an hour – thank goodness. I really would like a glass of milk, and 2% at that! I could even go for a rerun of my last trip to Cozumel with an emergency stop at McDonalds for a Big Mac and milk; perhaps we can stop on our way home!! 

Our trip has been wonderful, with the exception of the airport fiascos. The weather was warm and sunny everyday – I’m not excited to go back to temps in the 30’s – 40’s and snow – how depressing! Oh well, I guess that I have my photos to look at and keep me warm! And my tan to remind me that one day it will be warm again in Minnesota!

¡Que Triste! This is our last day! We woke up early and finished up our souvenir shopping. We have come to the conclusion that the Federales are not carrying their guns, eye down the barrel, and fingers on the trigger, to enhance tourism after Wilma.

Another conclusion that we arrived at today was that I apparently had a sign on myself today that said the following…
I’m on my honeymoon!
I just got off a cruise ship!
I need a scooter!
I’m a tourist!!

Literally everyone said the above comments; let me tell you how old that got!!

Tuesday, 21 March 2006

Location: Cozumel, Mexico

It may be a few years later, but I’m still terrified of the ocean!! Brad and I went out on the Furry Catamaran today to snorkel at the Colombia Reef and Palancar Reef, which is the #2 reef in the world. We started at Colombia, and I made it off the boat…and I was doing good. I found Brad, and then it started, fish, not near me…ON ME!!! I tried to calm myself, but was unsuccessful…I started to hyperventilate, and was “rescued” and brought back to the Catamaran by a mom. But I still enjoyed my brief time in the ocean, and the boat trip was wonderful! Brad enjoyed himself; I’m excited to see his photos!!

When we got to Palancar, I thought about giving it another try, being that I didn’t see many fish in the water. Palancar was about 35 – 60 feet deep with huge drops. Needless to say, I stayed on board, and watched Brad, which turned out to be a great plan! One of the leaders dove for a sea turtle, and everyone got to see it, except Brad because he was off on his own. I wish I could have seen the turtle, but maybe next time. I’m glad I was on board for the next sighting though…a SHARK!!!! No thank you, I was quite fine on the boat!! It was at least 10 feet long, they say.

We had a beach party which was fun before the Catamaran brought us back to town.

The show tonight was “A decade of Rhythm,” I was holding out for M.J.’s Thriller for the 80’s theme, but was great disappointed when it was Madonna, and I don’t even think that song was from the 80’s.

We called it another early night, it’s not even 11 p.m. and Brad is sound asleep. I’m thinking I need to go to bed too – I feel as though I’m rocking back and forth, and that’s with Dramamine.

We’re going to town tomorrow to finish our souvenir shopping, and then enjoy our last day in the sun. (We’re trying to make a reservation for Cafe Paraiso tomorrow) I wish we could extend our trip 2 months, we’re having a ton of fun!
