Sarah’s Travel Diary

Location: Mumbai, India

MapFelt better this morning, not that we were out of the hotel until nearly midday. Headed off into the mumbai heat in the direction of the Gateway to India, no real plans just thought we might do the walking tour in the guide book but we were caught by a tout and convinced to go on a driven tour of some of the city sites. Which was quite good coz it meant that we saw some things that we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. We went to a Dohbi Ghat (place were they was all the clothes), a Jain Temple, the Hanging Gardens, past the Tower of Silence where the Parsi's leave their dead (not allowed in there though), the Gandhi Museum, and to the Victoria Train Station to try and book our tickets to Goa but the Train we wanted was full so we decided to try and find a bus. Which we did. And then back to our room for a late siesta and finally out to look for some dinner, our first attempt at real Indian food. Nat had Pea Curry which she was very taken with and I had Panner Pakoda, which was basicly just fried cheese, can't say I was sad to find that out.
