I might be eating my words soon enough, but I am looking forward to the cooler weather of England...
I've been exploring the temples of Angkor with a $US40 three day pass. I have found that full days are impossible. Firstly because of the unbearable heat, and secondly because of the children constantly pestering you to buy postcards, bracelets, books, water, cold drinks, hats, scarves, coconuts...
The temples of Angkor are a credit to an otherwise poverty-ridden country. They were built between the 9th and 13th centuries by the Kings of the Khmer Empire. There are hundreds of temples, with the big daddy being Angkor Wat, which has a huge moat surrounding it. I went there for sunrise on my first day. Magical...
These are the most spectacular historical structures I have ever seen.
I have photos to share with you from Cambodia, but the computers here were born in 1989 so haven't heard of a USB connection. You'll just have to wait until I get back into Thailand :-)
