Govern’s Travel Diary

Monday, 29 May 2006

Location: Camp Stewart, Kerrville, USA

MapToday was the most hectic day, so far.

It began with an entire morning devoted to sports including Basketball, Dodgeball, Flickerball (American Football, with no tackles and the only way to intercept is by catching the ball) and of course 'soccer'.

The reason behind this gruelling 3 hour marathon of sports was to show us the best way to teach the kids when they arrive.

This was then followed by lunch, and then an outing to the archery range where we set up the targets for when the kids arrive, obviously we couldn't just leave without knocking a few arrows ourselves.

There was then a swim where our task was to clear the river of any and all 'hydrilla' we came across. (Hydrilla is a snake-like plant which gets trapped in the propellors of the boats and so this task unfortunately had to be done).

Finally after a tough day at work, we had the night off whcih featured a trip to the local cinema to see X-Men 3, and also a visit to a 7-11 store, which is exactly like you see in all films, and cartoons. i.e. the kwik-e-mart in the simpsons.

And of course what Camp Stewart night out would be complete without a trip to Walmart (That's ASDA to you and me) the home of teenage entertainment.
