Govern’s Travel Diary

Location: Camp Stewart, Kerrville, USA

MapToday was a day of jubilation once again in the sporting world of Camp Stewart, seeing me and my partner emerge victorious in the 2nd round of the Fatboy Tennis Tournament, cruising through easily against a nine year old and his 50 year old tennis partner.

This age gap obviously could not compete with the might of myself and my 16 year old, acne covered Leadership Trainee, from the siesta capital of the world, Spain.

The game was easily won 8 games to 3, a comfortable victory, which would have been easier had we not took pity on the small boy who so desperately wanted to win yet another tennis match.

The day continued as normal, until something horrific occured.

To cut a long story short, I needed a haircut and so the head of the catering department here at Stewart also acts as the camp's hairdresser. However, had I have thought things through, I would have realised that the copious amounts of chicken he slices and dices on a regular basis, would use the same techniques that this man would use on my hair.

Needless to say, my kids have now started referring to me as.

'The Governor', which I am accustomed to, but most of all 'Jarhead'. The US. Marine song has become my personal anthem among the plethora of campers here at Stewart, as well as a few of the division leader. Attention.
