Jenny Sheraton’s Travel Diary

Saturday, 19 Aug 2006

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

MapToday is Saturday and I got a sleep in - breakfast wasn't until 8am. We then hopped back on the bus and went to Edam for a bike ride around the canals and up to a dike. It was a leisurely ride and everyone had fun remembering how to ride a bike.

We then went to Cheese & Clogs and saw cheese being made and clogs being carved. Then onto the souvenir shop and cheese tasting. The cheese was very yummy and I don't normally like cheese!!

We then then went to Diamonds being cut and were offered diamonds to buy - if only!

Nancy and I walked back into the city centre and through to Anne Franks House. It is an unbelievable place and definitely takes your breath away. We then walked to Dam Square and went shopping. For a Saturday there were a lot of people around.

For dinner we went to dinner at the Sea Palace which is a floating chinese restuarant. A lot of beautiful food.

We then went for a tour of the Red Light District after dinner - interesting!

Tomorrow off to Germany.
