Location: St Goar, Germany

MapThis morning we left Amsterdam and drove on to Germany. We arrived at St Goar at about 2pm and went to a Beer Stein shop. We were given a talk about how beer steins are made.

Then we went to do some wine tasting down in a basement that was very old, very dark and smelly. We tasted white wines of the region. I didn`t really like them but we got to keep our glass.

We then went on a river boat cruise along the Rhine River and had a great view of castles and beautifully buildings. Also vineyards on the side of hills at angles of 60 degrees. You`ve got to see the photos to believe them.

We then got back on the bus and drove up through the mountains to our hotel. It was a quaint little hotel with no elevator so we had to walk up 2 flights of stairs to our rooms with our own suitcases. I`m going to have arm muscles soon.

We had dinner at the hotel which was pork schnitzel and lots of vegies. Very yummy. A glass of beer here is 0.51 litres and it cost 3 euro at this hotel and of course I took a photo of me and my glass of beer. Some of us went downstairs to the bar and had a few beers. The local beer I was drinking tasted a lot like XXXX gold.

A bit of late night for some of us while everyone went to bed.

Tomorrow off to Switzerland.
