Location: La Paz, Bolivia

MapWe had a spare day free and took the opportunity to go out to the largest pre columbian Inca site
It is located about 2 hours west of La Paz near Lake Titicaca, it started 1500 BC and went on untill 700 AD
This was the most important site for the Incas and had a population of 20,000 people
The site has been only 5% uncovered so there is still a lot to be discovered, unfortunately just about eveyone has had a go at digging things out for thrmselves.
First it was the Spanish carving the cross into every statue they could find, the Bolivian Army used the place for target practice and then the public works used the blocks for the foundation of the railway
