Location: Banos, Peru

MapA 3hr leisurely walk up Tungurahua, a volcano overlooking Banos. Well, that was how it as sold to us the day before we went and in need of some exercise after some heavy nights we readily agreed to meet at 8am.

"Do you have plenty of chocolate and energy drinks with you ?" A quick trip to the local store soon sorted that out but little did we know what we had let ourselves in for.

4hrs later at the refuge having climed from 2600m to 3800m having walked directly up the side of the mountain, we were definitely in need of lunch. None of that ´switch-back´ malarky, straight up. Find the biggest hill you can and just start walking.

Congratulations to my fellow hikers, Manda, Sal and Charley...good preparation for Machu Picchu (for those that made it, more later)
