Location: Arequipa, Peru

MapExit Clinica Arequipa and goodbye Room 202, my home for the past 10 days, how happy am I!

Over the past 10 days, having been bed-ridden for 8 of those, I am just so happy to walk again. With blood samples taken than I care to remember, the daily visits from the student nurses did help a little.

We also celebrated Richies birthday, Monday 11th Oct...Happy Birthday mate, I heard the night was a good 'un. How are the pan-pipes coming on? Jo - sorry I missed yours mate!

During my time in the clinic the staff were all excellent. The majority of doctors had studied in the US or Europe and so their English was very good. The nurses were excellent and I can only say a great big thankyou, especially to my specialist Dr Rafael Arrarte.

I'd also like to say a very big thankyou to all the folks on the Kumuka tour and everyone else who sent get well messages. I have to bid farewell to the tour, and unfortunately an early farewell to South America, two months early.

Special thanks to Richie, Amanda and Lisa. Thanks for all your support and keeping the smile on my face! Lisa - you coped admirably with your first hospital patient, especially as we are your first tour, what a baptism of fire (Dr Damo on our tour has been very busy)!

From here it's on to NZ to explore the Land of the Long White Cloud and see the family. Having planned to be there for only a couple of months it now looks as if I may well be staying a little longer.
