Location: Tibet, China

MapHello ALl! Where to begin... My tour has been interesting so far. I am not thrilled with the people, they are not bad but they aren't great!! Sometimes I miss my friends and family and their unconditional love!! Either way they are okay!! The first two guesthouses were alright. I shared a room with a few others. The bathroom of the second place was out right scary. I chose to pee outside behind a wall instead of in the toilet! Always an adventure! The 12 hour drive was one of the most incredible stretches of landscape I have ever seen. I am not sure how to describe it. A mountainous desert! There are no trees, or any other kind of vegetation, very little water, and layer upon layer of mountains of every shade, grey, brown, dark brown, white and snow covered. It was incredible!! We went over two passes of about 4500m above sea level. Fortunately I was already aclimatized. Others suffered headaches, light headedness, and nausea. That's what happens when you get to high to fast. Either way it has been really amazing. Today I went to my first monastery. It is called Tashilhunpo Monastery and it was one of the most sacred ones in Tibet. It is also huge. It was founded in 1447. This monastery is the home of the Pnachan Lama's. He is second in command after the Dalai Lama. The 11th Panchan Lama is a bit of a contraversial issue. The one appointed by the Tibetans has been locked in a Chinese prison for many many years. The Chinese have appointed their own Panchan Lama who is now 18. Only time will tell what happens next! I guess this hasn't given you a very good understanding of the whole story but it is too long to write. OKay that's all for now! Chat soon, Love, T
