Tamarra’s Travel Diary

MapHello All! We spent 2 1/2 interesting days in Medellin. IN reality the first day both ALyssa and I were feeling a little under the weather. We did go see a World CUp Soccer Game Argentina vs North Korea. Argentina won 3-0 ! The game was fun! We came home and had an early night. The next day was spent exploring the city. There is a huge festival del FLores (Flower Festival) going on so the city is a buzz. We took the very modern metro (subway, above ground) to where it attaches to a series of cable cars that go up the mountainside where many people have made their homes. Medellin is buit between two mountains there is only so much sprawl possible. The only way to go is up the mountains! We went to this huge park at the top of the cable car system and spent sometime walking around. The afternoon was spent with a friend who lives in Medellin who I met in Villa de Leyva. We explored the orchid exhbit at the botanical garden. It was wonderful! We spent the night hanging out in the Pablado District where literally thousands of youth gather to drink and party! The scene was amazing and the energy good!
Today we ran around the city looking at markets, Botero statues, museums and a huge car rally (that we only saw the beginning of, because we had a plane to catch)! We have arrived in Cartagena and it is too hot for my liking but ALyssa seems happy. We wandered the old city this evening and it is amazing! OK that´s a brief update for now. Pictures to follow tomorrow. HUgs A & T
