Location: El Chalten, Argentina

MapAdmin: Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Hope you all have a great time and don´t miss us too much!

The following day after the Glacier, we headed north (man we are flying through this country!) to see Fitz Roy Mountain.

A 4.5 hr bus trip on a dirt road really made the beer guts and double chins we acquired in Antarctica wobble!

To help stem the flow of fat accumulation (far to many nice steaks and ice cream in this country) we decided to walk the Fitz Roy triangle. 7hrs of cross country hiking in some spectacular countryside. The whole walk gave us views of Fitz Roy mountain. We were very lucky to be able to see the peak of the mountain as the park rangers said that the majority of the time it is covered in cloud.

For those of you non-climbers amoung us, Cerro Fitz Roy is one of the mountain climbers mecca, as its sheer sides and 3441m peak make it a difficult climb. We were going to give it a go, but we didn´t want to show up all the locals and tourist, plus we forgot to pack some chalk.....

The town at the bottom of the mountain, El Chalten, was really cute - dirt roads, horses and sheep walking the street and everyone was really friendly.
