Location: Mendoza, Argentina

MapCaught the overnight bus back to Santiago from Pucon - rather hairy rides these bus rides - the drivers seem to think they are driving sports cars - we´ve decided it´s best to just draw the curtains + sleep!

Spent the night at Jorge + Marcella´s before jumping a bus over the Andes to Mendoza, Argentina. The drive definitely lived up to expectations - beautiful drive through incredible landscape over the Andes to the River Plate region. The peaks of the Andes are covered in snow + ice at the moment, reaching heights of over 6000m. It is a very barren desolate landscape - but right now the waters from the melting glaciers + snow rush down the channels cut into the Andes to the Desaguadero, the region´s principle river - really red in colour - providing irrigation to all the agricultural areas - mainly vineyards and fruit trees.

Staying in the centre at a great hostel - a old house, built in the 1940s, renovated to be an 11 bedroom hostel.
