Location: Coromandel, New Zealand

MapBeen here on the Coromandel Peninsular for over a week now. We were doing some WWOOFING at a B&B 3km south of Coormandel, mainly gardening. We've been trying to get our van fixed, it failed its MOT equilavent - nothing too major just takes time to sort things here. So today its in being sorted and hopefully we'll be on the road again this avo. Our intended destinations are Waitomo to visit the caves via Hamilton then over to Rotorua then out to the White Island and down towards Gisbon in Hawkes Bay to find some work.

Had a crazy weekend went right up to the north of the peninsular, stunning sceanary out here, I'm sure I'll be blown away by the time we get to the South island. The road up is just a mad gravel track, but defo worth giving the van the abuse. We did the Coromandel walkway 7km of amazing coastal sceanary and bush, and it was sooo hot! The camp site we were on was really basic. We got invited to a 40th birthday party. The people were from Hamilton and they had brought in a guitarist (Ed) amps the lot, big fire lots of food, wine, beer, rum - a true Kiwi experience, had a fantastic time. The birthday guy - David had been learning to play the guitar for 6 months and as a birthday thing he played with Ed then in a moment of madness I went and grabbed my mouth organ which people I've been learning on my travels, and did a couple of improvised numbers with Ed!

Thats not the end of my mind blowing weekend, on our way back to Coromandel we stopped in at a farm and went horse trekking. Now this for me is a BIG deal until yesterday I could safely say I was scared to death of horses, but it was great and I did it! I sat on and rode Mass a gorgeous gray, who I fell in love with and who he fell in love with me! Shame he was just too big for my backpack!

Well I'm off to check out the gold battery down the road, later.
