Tracey’s Travel Diary

Monday, 26 Feb 2007

Location: Henderson, New Zealand

In the internet cafe in Henderson again. Probably will travel south of Auckland today. Yesterday we went to Auckland to go to two festivals (both were free to go to). We went to a festival in the morning that celebrated the cultures of people from different countries. Then in the afternoon we went to Rock in the Park to listen to some bands. Both festivals were free and it the sun shone all day.

The day before (Saturday 24th February) we travelled from Shelleys beach to Helensville to their A & P show. There were not many animals - a few goats, sheep and cattle were judged. We could not see any sheep shearing although it was advertised, but we had a few different samples in the home brewers tent.

Since the last entry we visited the Kauri forests, went on a Kiwi Bird hunt at night (unfortunately saw none but heard them), went to Dargerville and visited the museum, climbed up a rock, then to the Kauri museum, visited a large Fig tree, walked up Mount Auckland, then to Shelly's beach.
