Kim’s Travel Diary

Monday, 19 Mar 2007

Location: Sydney, Australia

MapSandra is flying to the Gold Coast today to meet Floyd and to stay with him and his family for a few days on her own. The morning was just a lazy time spent looking at maps and brochures working out our next few days of travel. We are trying to get a train trip in hopefully towards the inland whilst working our way up the coast to Port Douglas and the barrier reef.

I decided to go into town with Sandra and whilst she carried on to the airport, I went into town and walked and walked - the joke about the elephants bottom and mine is no longer a joke as all I have done since arriving in Australia is eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. China Town was the first stop and then on towards Darling Harbour and a maybe a ferry crossing? but the weather had other ideas and within 5 minutes I was soaked to the point where I thought about buying some new clothes from outside in to dry out but decided instead to have a glass of wine and watch the world drip around me. People here do not worry about getting wet but carry on jogging, walking etc, etc.

I decided to get back to Lane Cove and caught the mono-rail to the bus station. Why don't we have something like this in the UK - cheap, quick, above ground and it takes you around the city, some orf the stations are inside the shopping malls! It was such fun, that I did the complete circuit before getting off!

Not a very touristy day but enjoyable
