Location: Australia

MapA drop or two

Up till now we have been taking our time doing all the touristy stuff but it was time to high tail it a bit further on and try some vineyards around Adelaide. The Coonawarra region was our first stop and we treated ourselves to an amazing lunch at Hollick winery.

McLaren Vale was the best though. All the vineyards are so much closer together than in Central Otago so we were able to cycle between them. Everyone recommended the nice purposefully made flat track that took you along some lovely vineyards. Jim asked the bike shop guy if the vineyards in the other direction were better and the man said “yes, but it’s much hillier”, a rollercoaster was the way he described the road. So guess which way we had to go…………all in the name of fitting into that bridesmaid dress!! (once again Debbie not me!)

It was well worth it though, cold on the down hills but you warmed up well on the up hill. The first place had a tasting list of about 30 wines! Luckily the rest didn’t. After 3 weeks of rain the sun came out for us, the wine was great and the people were lovely (even if they were a little surprised at the end of the day when we drove back round and bought enough wine to last us the rest of our holiday)! One of my favourite days of the holiday so far.

Especially as we finished it off by chewing on skippy! Yes jim cooked some beautiful Kangaroo Steaks for dinner tonight Beauuuut Maaaate!!
