MapMuch better day today, we did a three mile run early in the morning which doesnt bother me one bit, then we had our hand to hand combat exercises afterwards....The old man that beat me the day before(He's 47 by the way) I got a rematch and pinned him! Revenge is sweet....

We did our maneuvering through combat town today, it really is tough, again wearing all that gear. They had three small houses/rooms set up, we form up outside and go in. It was pretty neat but again after the first house the heat and wearing all the armor just wore you down....All the respect in the world for the guys who do that all the time....

This afternoon was our final preps for the "convoy" we have tomorrow, this is our final exam for the two weeks we have been here...Our platoon(18 guys) will be spread throughout 4 vehicles and we have a mission to perform. It will take us over roads, villages, etc, we will encounter roadside bombs, snipers, trying to pick up casualties, apply first aid, perform security checks, it really is a big deal. That will be most of the day tomorrow, then we graduate and turn in some items on Friday and depart for overseas saturday....

Overall its been an interesting two weeks...I was selected as the fourth platoon commander the first day here(I said the army recognizes leadership as soon as it steps off the bus!!) but I have to admit, its been a figure-head position at best....

I'm ready for the next step of this adventure, it should be interesting getting from South Carolina to Kuwait which is where our next bit of training will take place...Typically it is about a 12-15 hour flight from the east coast to Kuwait, however we do not have a large enough group to charter a civilian plane, which the military does for large groups of people....Instead we are going to take a military "hop" which will require a total of three days in order to make it to kuwait! You have to love the government logic...

It will be yet another adventure, and should make for some interesting entries in this website!!!
