Alaska’s Travel Diary

Thursday, 19 Jul 2007

Location: Mesilla New Mexico, USA

MapThe PLAN was to leave at 5:30 a.m. Eh-eh! Ain't happenin'! The alarm system on Gwynne's 'new' RAV4 sounded when we went to open the doors. This means, then, that unless you know how to disengage the darn thing, you can't start the car. So, to make a long story short, AAA towed us to the Toyota dealer in Boerne (where we could at least get a head start on the mileage).....4 adults in the front seat of a tow truck w/ your's truly strattling the CB/Message Board. After a two hour delay, we were on the road stopping at liesure for gassing up, going to the bathroom (numerous times for Audrey), snacking, but enjoying the scenery, conversation, Enya, Phantom of the Opera, and some stupid audio book Gwynne rented from Cracker Barrel last week. Audrey is reading Harry Potter #6, working on her notebook & diary, etc. We gained an hour after Van Horn and arrived in Mesilla, NM at 3:30 p.m. Thelma & Louise (w/ daughter in tow to learn) are safe and sound, fed & watered, and ready to bed down. Goodnight!
