Alaska’s Travel Diary

Location: Ninilchik, USA

MapAugust 20, 2007 Winding down our trip….excitement coming here, and excitement leaving here to return home. We will keep posting as much as we can, but will be on the ferry, 26th, 27th and 28th and they said we do not have wireless. Oh well!

This morning, Jennifer had some big silvers on but one broke her line. Alton caught one 6 lb. and Gene and Bob H. caught 4 beautiful ones in the Ninilchik. (pictures attached). When I went over to get pics of Gene’s fish, I found that my eaglet finally flew out of his nest and was practicing flying from a very high branch. I think I got a good movie of him, but don’t know. I will attach it here on movies for all of you eagle lovers. He is beautiful but quite clumsy still, so he flies from branch to branch …..I don’t see any sign of his siblings, however Gene saw the big bald eagle at his house yesterday and he is about a block away from their nest. The eagles have left this area for the most part for the summer….and have flown to other areas. They are usually as plentiful as the gulls.
We have spent some time just doing local things here and enjoying what little time we have left. The dramas are a daily occurrence ; I will put on the pics of the next door neighbors catching a 300lb. halibut, maybe not today, but maybe tomorrow.
