Alaska’s Travel Diary

Location: USA

MapSince last post (earlier today) we have gotten our butts whooped once again by Susan and Loas. We have also had numerous whale sitings....more than 4 different occasions. It is hard to tell which direction when the loud speaker tells us, especially if you are sitting in a chair facing the back of the boat...which means your looking in the opposite direction than the boat is moving...and they tell you port (or left) side OR starboard (or right) side. It is a real challenge. Usually, I have to yell at Gwynne to get her camera out and ready because it is at the bottom of whatever bag she has brought w/ her at the time. This time.....full of afghan and yarn. Hope you can picture her, in her excitement, trying to retrieve the darn thing from the bag, turn it on, and walk in the direction of the siting.
From 12:30 to 2:30, we were told, we were going to be entering Charlott's Sound to the open water. This, too, was a real challenge....to try to stay upright and not bounce off of the walls passing down the halls. It was a good thing we were not doing it at night. I would have had a panic attack. The captain indicated that the remainder of the trip would be smooth sailing.
We are scheduled to play bridge, once again, w/ our comadres, at 7, stopping shy of 8:30 so we can venture off to the car deck below and go through the maze of 18-wheelers, camper trailers, RVs, cars, etc. to put some things away.
Hopefully, we will be able to load many pictures we have taken and are unable to share w/ you due to the slow server. Until tomorrow evening.....
