Alaska’s Travel Diary

Thursday, 07 Jun 2012

Location: USA

MapShort news....we DID it! We finally saw a grizzly! This made our trip complete. It was a special viewing. Mom had two small cubs. They looked so cuddly. But you dare not get near. We also saw one old cow moose whose mane made her look like a hyena.
We are in the U.S. in Tok, Alaska. We left at 8:25 a.m. with temp at 52 degrees and misting. It rained much of the day, but stopped late in the day w/ overcast skies. The car, once red, is now brown. This is due to the road conditions between Lake Kluane and Tok.
The border crossing went smoothly. I told the other two occupants of the car to let me do the talking. I handed over our passports (no letters) and waited for the border patrol for his inquisition. He simply asked about firearms and fruits/plants/etc., then sent us on our way.
We have a reguvinated feeling once across the border, either way....don't know what it is.
Tomorrow we travel to Anchorage (328 miles) and meet up with Pam and John Bearor to venture out for a couple of days. Tune in tomorrow night. We're sure to have good internet connections and cell service. (Jennifer)
