Alaska’s Travel Diary

Map(Be sure to read the other Sunday post first....it is yesterday's news!) Today, once again, was a leisure morning just having to be sure between 8 and 9 a.m. we made it to our complimentary hot breakfast. The food was delicious and company great! We parted ways as Dylan, Gwynne, and I headed to Ninilchik, while Pam & John took off to Seward. The drive was shortÖ.only 1 ½ hours or so with one stop in Soldotna at Fred Meyers (much like a super Walmart) for enough to hold us over until tomorrow when we would have space in the car for more.
We pulled into Ninlchik around noonish and had our first visitor a little after 1:00 p.mÖ..Gene. This wonderful man plays games with us, takes us fishing and clamming, eats with us when we can convince him to, and is just an all-around good guy! Soon after he left our host, Bob Jones, came to check on us. Dylan ran up to him like he had known him his whole life and gave him the biggest hug youíve ever seen. Bob graciously accepted! Bob, too, is a man we could not survive up here without. He worked along side Daddy at Kelly AFB and created a bond for the Sonnen family that will last a lifetime.
Gwynne & Dylan took off around 4 p.m. to pick up Gene to go the chicken lady for fresh eggs so Dylan could see the chickens and maybe pluck a few eggs from beneath the winged fowl. I have not gotten a report, but will have to update you laterÖ.Iím taking advantage of the internet access, currently, in BJís garage. Our internet services are shared with many people and itís hard to stay connected.
Gwynne is supposed to be fixing Sweedish meatballs and salad for dinner, so I sure hope she gets home soon before she poops out! No real plans tomorrow, but Iím sure the excitement around here will be non-stop, nonetheless. (Jennifer)
