Alaska’s Travel Diary

MapSunday's News:
The Bearor’s departed today after a 16-day Alaska adventure, headed to Anchorage for a flight out tomorrow night. We hated to see them go….we had a great time with them while they were here.
Gene & Gwynne reigned as champions of the cribbage tourney last night, winning 3-2 over the Bearor’s. This was after a meal of meat loaf, mashed taters, and green beans and a dessert of homemade bread a-la-Pam…yum!
After their departure at 10:00 a.m., Dylan and I took over the upstairs where he will have his own single bed and I will take over the double. I’ll report in about the quality of the sleep. I can’t complain as we have had nights of 9 to 11 hours of sleep. It will be hard to convert to the 4:30 rising for silver salmon in August.
Gwynne fixed chicken and dumplings for Gene and I today. After a game of cribbage for 3 people where Gwynne was victorious, we sent Gene home with two manly servings of leftovers. He left around 3:30 to rest up and plan for a long trip tomorrow to Anchorage with a few friends to shop at Sam’s. He says he saves money by doing this. We find it hard to believe, but he’s got it down to a science.
As promised, Gwynne took Dylan to Brody Rd. again in hopes of seeing something. They came back to pick up Memaw to go for an ice cream run up to the General Store….one small cone, one medium cone, and one sundae. Their hearty servings are Daddy Bob sized.
We are enjoying a little r & r before bedding down for the night. Tomorrow we will make a trip to Soldotna shopping. One thing I have on my list is ‘liquid nails’ to secure the Lincoln log construction once and for all! (Jennifer)
