Alaska’s Travel Diary

Location: USA

MapThe 4th has come and gone. The morning looked rainy, but the conditions for clamming were good. Gene picked Dylan and I up around 10 a.m. for a 10:30 low tide of -4.6. We scanned for dimples in the sand, but they were few and far between.....not just for us, but for the hoards of people on the Deep Creek beach. We dug 5 clams, Gene 1 and I 4. Gene cleaned them at his house since they were so few, so I could go back to the house and get Dylan and I cleaned up.
Gwynne rents movies from the store and we also check movies out from the library. We are watching the Twilight series so we will be ready for the continuation to Breaking Dawn.
We lounged around and treated ourselves to grilled hot dogs, a staple for any 4th of July celebration......yummy with chili, cheese, onion, and a dab of sour cream for me, 3 with no bun....Gwynne mad a triple hot dog sandwich.
Gene came by and another lesson on Pinochle began. Dylan entertained himself for hours on the computer racing a car. His attention span amazes me. I'm not used to that!
We got to bed late and layed in bed listening to fireworks. Dylan fell asleep, but yours truly lie there staring at the four walls for another hour or so. It was nearing 2:00 by the time I fell asleep. Thus, everyone slept in this morning until 10 a.m.
We are trekking to Homer passing through Anchor Point so Gwynne can check into a Salon someone at the Senior Center told us about. It will be good to know as Dylan will need a buzz soon and I may break down and get a trim myself. Linda (my salonist) has taught me how to trim my bangs, so that me be what I do instead. (Jennifer)
