Technology means I can access iternet from the boat on the Yangtze!
Shanghai airlines cancelled Bernie's ticket for some reason and then sold it on so the plane was full. A tearful Rachel and myself had to take off leaving Bernie to find his own way to Yichang (600 miles away). Not really! Our tour guide was brilliant. After having a stand up arguement with the airline he managed to get Bernie onto another flight. Unforunately it was at Pudong airport (2nd airport in Shanghai on the other side of the town) and could only land at Wuhan airport (190 miles from where we were). He then had a 4 hour drive to reach the boat. Needless to say he was exhausted when he arrived at 11.30 p.m. China International Travel Service were great. They taxied him with a tour guide to the other airport, waved him off and another tour guide and driver were waiting from him when he landed.
The acrobatic show on our final night in Shanghai was brilliant. Cirque de Shanghai.
Today was one of the highlighs of the trip. A visit to the Three Gorges Dam. Massive!! We had an excellent tour guide who was very informative. What I did not realise was that our boat had to go up the five locks to bypass the dam. Awesome!! To see a great big, heavy boat rise so quickly was astonishing. It took us 2 hours to get through all five locks.
Life on board ship is veryrelaxing. We have a deluxe cabin with a balcony and it is great lying on your bed watching the amazing gorges go by. Tonight we had the captains dinner. Delicious. Lucily it is a buffet lunch with western and chinese food so we are not overdosing on chinese!
Keep sending those messages. We can't reply to them all but we love reading them.
All our love
