Anita and Bernie’s Travel Diary

Location: China

Map8th September
Well everyone at SS Peter and Paul - congratulations on surviving your 1st week without me!!
Yesterday took a smaller boat to the Shennong side gorge. Spectacular. Saw cranes and other wildlife from the boat as well as coffins in caves high above the water (the higher you are put to rest the closer you are to God). Sad to say that some of the lovely villages and temples will be under water by 2012 when the Three Gorges Dam is fully functional. Over 1 million people are being displaced.
The weather has turned and it is now raining. Stayed onboard today as we did not want to
a. get wet
b. walk up 300 steps to see another temple.
Tomorrow we leave the boat and see pandas in the zoo before we fly to Xian to see the terracotta army (lets hope Bernie has a seat on the plane!!)
All the best
A,B and R
PS Chris - Rachel is missing you a lot!!
