Anita and Bernie’s Travel Diary

Friday, 23 Nov 2007

Location: Delhi, India

MapHi everyone - thanks for the e-mails. The medication has worked wonders for Bernie and he is a new man!!! Although he still had motion after effects with each long journey he did not succumb to the awful bout of sickness he had previously had.
Agra was full of wonder even after 7 hours of gruelling travelling! We arrived at the Taj Mahal in time to see the sunset effect on this magnificent white marble structure. It really is a true testimont of love even if it took 22 years to build! The structure looks as if it was finished a couple of years ago (not 400 years ago). The place was heaving with people but we still managed to find a quiet spot to contemplate the light change as the sun went down. It was worth the long journey.
The next day (Friday) we visited the Red Fort. Another magnificent structure where Shahjahan spent his last 8 years imprisoned by his son looking at the Taj, built in memory of his wife, the love of his life, but never being able to visit it. Unfortunately it was such a murky day that we could not see the Taj from there.
Another very long journey took us to Delhi for our final night where we had to say goodbye to so many new good friends that we made. (Thank goodness we saw the last of Angela and Lewis!! as double rums on the last night were too free flowing). Will miss them lots in Goa.
Early start for our flights to Goa.
