Location: The Whitsundays, Australia

MapWhen we first found out that the AGM was to be in Townsville we had a fellow Ulyssian visiting us from Germany who was quite keen on attending the AGM. He was quite keen to do a trip out to The Whitsundays as part of the itinerary. Unfortunately Bob couldn't make it to Oz this year, but his plan to cruise the Whitsundays had always appealed to us. So early this morning we waited out the front of the caravan park at 7.10am to be picked up by our bus driver to take us to the Camira. The Camira is a large purple catamaran thats moored at the marina in Airlie Beach. At 8am we boarded Camira & were served coffee/tea & biscuits. Not long after we set sail for Daydream Island, & along the way we were briefed on our trip for the day. From Daydream Island we sailed out pass South Molle Island to Hook Island where we snorkelled on the reef. Once back on board we were served a most delicious morning tea including scones with jam & cream. From Hook Island we sailed around to Whitehaven Beach, the most pristine beach in the world where the sand is 98% plus silica. Sand from this beach was used to make the lens of the Hubble Telescope. The beach was a popular landing spot for helicopters bringing couples to the beach for a romantic lunch and maybe a proposal!!!!!! Once back on board Camira we were served a most delicious BBQ lunch washed down with beer, wine or softies. Sails were set again & we had some fun racing The Anaconda. We sailed past Hamilton Island where homes of the rich & famous were pointed out to us. We also witnessed a jet taking off from Hamilton Island airport which was quite spectacular. Afternoon tea was served & was just as scrumptious as morning tea & lunch. We cruised back into Airlie Beach on sunset, a breathe taking end to a glorious day. We were well & truly stuffed when we were returned to the caravan park. A great day was had by all. Thanks Bob for suggesting the Whitsundays!!!!!!!!
