Location: Cologne, Germany

MapOn the way to Cologne we stopped at Antwerp in Belgium and walked around the historic centre. The cathedral is another imposing structure. Close to the cathedral is the Grote Markt (town square) which is surrounded by more highly decorated buildings with statues of people, animals and birds in gold (paint we presume). Antwerp doesn’t have a large historic centre but it has a few other buildings of interest, Ruben’s house and museum, a small castle along the river and some remains of wall fortifications.
We then drove on to our small hotel apartment, about 3 km from the centre of Cologne and walked to a restaurant nearby for dinner.
