Location: Kühlungsborn, Germany

MapWe drove into Malmo centre and walked around, in the rain, to see some of the city. There are quite a few nice buildings and squares in the old town and across the canal around the train station. We also saw Sweden’s tallest building, the “Turning Torso” which twists 90 degrees as it rises to 54 stories.
In the afternoon we drove over the long bridge between Sweden and Denmark to the port at Gedser and took the ferry across to Rostock in Germany. We drove west to the small coastal town of Kühlungsborn and checked into a very nice vacation apartment. Later we walked to the promenade along the Baltic Sea. The town has some very nice modern hotels, apartment buildings and homes, much nicer than our expectations for the former East Germany.
