Location: Bad Aibling, Germany

MapToday is Dawn’s birthday but we won’t give away any secrets! First, we drove to the town of Amerang, about 50 km away, to see the (translation) Museum of German Automobiles. There are many high quality exhibits dating from the late 1800s to the 1990s. Manufacturers that have long been out of production, or acquired by others, are on display with names such as Horch (Audi), DKW and NSU (Audi), Maybach (Mercedes Benz), Adler and Borgward. This museum is worth a visit if you like cars and are in the area. It also has the world’s largest “track 2” model railway exhibit in the lower level with some excellent dioramas, track features and even a model refinery and tanker ship.
Next we drove to the town of Rosenheim, the largest in this area, and went for a walk. It has a nice pedestrian-only shopping area with some 19th century buildings as well as an old town gate.
We drove back to Bad Aibling and went to the thermal pools for a few relaxing hours and had dinner in the restaurant there.
