Corey and Nicki’s Travel Diary

Friday, 30 Oct 2009

Location: Wilmington, England

MapSo - we are now back from our little road trip.

We were at the theatre Monday night for an excellent production of "Blood Brothers" and did not get to bed till late...

...then we were up at 5am to beat the rush hour on the roads.

We made good time and stopped at Stonehenge, before continuing on to Bath.

Bath was very busy and we had trouble finding a park. After that the attractions were also crowded, but we managed to see the Roman Baths, Jane Austen centre and Royal Crescent.

Then it was on to our B&B in the Cotswolds. The room was nice and we were glad to get to bed as we were tired by then!

The next day we explored the Cotswolds, stopping at three of the villages: Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold and Broadway (plus the Broadway Tower)

Then it was onwards to Stratford Upon Avon, where we got a room at the Travelodge.

In the morning we visited some of the properties associated with Shakespeare in the town as well as the Witchcraft Museum; though the latter was rather crowded with it being Halloween week!

In the afternoon we had enough time to visit Blenheim Palace before finding our next accomodation: another Cotswolds B&B.

The room was the nicest yet, but sadly Corey was rather ill last night and could not enjoy it - maybe some bad chicken from his pub meal that evening...we don't know...

He was feeling ill still this morning and we had seen most of what we wanted to see, so we decided to head home a little earlier than planned.

First though we spent a couple of hours in Oxford where we climbed a tower for views of the city and visited the Castle.

We got back here at 3pm and Corey is starting to feel somewhat better.

He did all the driving and did well in the busy traffic.

We took over 300 photos between us (a few are here for you to see) and got a number of souvenir guide books and an "Oxford Uni" top each.

We have no firm plans for next week yet, but will decide some things over the weekend...

Tomorrow night is Halloween so Corey and I will share a "Hobgoblin" beer then!!
