ciz&iz’s Travel Diary

Location: Koh Tao, Thailand

MapOh mY goOD A new world has just opened up to us! We are just after completing our open water diving course and its one of the coolest experiences Ive had! 18 m down, swimming with turtles and colourful fishes of all different sorts. If it wasnt for the small obstacle of me not being borne into this world with a respiratory system fit for ocean water, Id move in next to the corralls and mr parrot fish straight away! You can check out some of our pics from the dives, but they dont even come close to making the experience justice.

Weve spent almost a week here now and even though its beautiful and wonderful having the beach and the sea on our doorstep, its not cheap-cheap enough for us to stick within our budget. The Thai gulf islands seem to have developed rapidly in the last 5-10 years and are half way to Mallorca level. 90% of the people here seem to be living off tourism and the prices are set thereafter. You wonder how regular Thai people afford holidaying in their own country.

So, on Saturday were heading back to BK for a few days and then onwards to Chang Mai in the north. The time of beach bumming around has come to a sweet end (at least for a few weeks) and were ready to explore the fascinating history of the great temples.
