Elaine and Peter’s Travel Diary

Monday, 04 Aug 2014

Location: Damaraland, Namibia

MapAlthough the elephant run is ten yards in front of our lodge, we have yet to meet one, although the day before we arrived some guests encountered such as they were going to breakfast.

We have had a very exciting day. We set off at 7a.m in the fog again for our five hour safari into the desert scrub in search of the elusive lion. His recent tracks have been found but it was to no avail. We drove miles to reach the Aub Canyon and drove along the bone shattering river bed, by which time it was scorching.....our guide was excellent... And we found numerous other animals often at close quarters...giraffe, oryx, kudu, ostrich, hyenas, springbok, rumpus birds, and the zebra which is only found in this area. The landscape was stunning... A fabulous day.

Off to sit by the pool now with tea and cakes.
