Lauren & Georgia’s Travel Diary

Wednesday, 04 May 2011

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

MapKuala Lumpur. Still as amazing as I remember it from the last time I was here almost three years ago. Iím not sure why I love this city so much, perhaps itís the diversity, yet everything is so simple. Everyone is happy go lucky, and they know how to play the cards they have been dealt. It makes you realise just how much we take everything for granted Ė we continue to strive for more, however we are never pleased with what we have got.

For the first three weeks of our trip, our parents Yvonne and Russell will be joining us. Our Air Asia X flight from the Gold Coast was pleasant, a little bit of turbulence here and there but nothing to complain about. Our two bedroom apartment at the Prince Hotel is beautiful and so nice to be able to relax after a big day rather than being contained to a room with a bed in it. As we were all tired from our travels we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Tonight was a seafood buffet. It was amazing. They had numerous stations with chefs cooking dishes such as tempura prawns, seafood fondue and even waffles for dessert. All of this for only AUD $100 for the four of us! A little pricey for Kuala Lumpur but it was worth every cent.

After dinner we decided we should go for a bit of a wonder to walk off dinner. We strolled across the road into the Bukit Bintang district. The streets are lined with fancy hotels and mega shopping centres. As we approached a shopping centre close by, we were interrupted by fireworks. We hung around to see what the fuss was about and to our surprise, and from all the commotion, a new store was opening. They had a band playing while dancers were performing as the VIP made their way to the store for the grand opening. Unfortunately we have no idea who that VIP was, I am sure it was a big deal to the locals.

Although Georgia & I are young and should be out partying, we have decided to call it quits at 10.00pm local time. Malaysia is two hours behind Gold Coast, and we have been awake since 5.00am (3.00am if you go by Malaysian time)!!! We are saving all our energy to make a night of it tomorrow! So much to do in such little time.
