Lauren & Georgia’s Travel Diary

Friday, 06 May 2011

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

MapFood. One of the greatest pleasures in life. Australia could definitely learn a thing or two from Kuala Lumpur. From the quality through to the service. After deciding to bypass the idea of visiting Chinatown we walked across the road to the Pavilion shopping centre. After perusing a few menus we decided to dine at Ben’s. Deliciously amazing. We were seated outside overlooking the city. The food was to die for, as well as the prices! To begin we had cherry tomato & basil bruschetta ($3) and crispy calamari with aioli ($3). For mains Dad had a rack of lamb ($15 – the most expensive meal on the menu), Mum had fried soft shell crab with green papaya salad ($6), Georgia had pesto spaghetti with chicken ($6) and I had mushroom lasagne ($6). During dinner Mum and I sipped on $6 cosmopolitans. Somehow Georgia’s drink order managed to get lost in translation – she was served a glass of straight vodka with a can of lemonade to the side. Was funny watching her have a big sip before she realised.

I then felt it was my duty to take Mum and Dad to the SkyBar at Traders Hotel to witness the night time view of the Petronas Towers. The bar has changed a little since I last visited, almost more like a nightclub and extremely popular. We had one drink each while experiencing one of my favourite sights in the world!

Georgia and I have decided to savour the nightclub/disco experience for our last night on the way home. We thought it would be best to have a quiet night as we have a 13 hour flight to London to look forward to! Our flight departs at 3.00pm this afternoon and we will arrive at 9.45pm local time. Well time to head off for my buffet breakfast. Speak to you once I get to Europe!
