Location: Ibiza, Spain

MapI will finish off with Barcelona before I start with Ibiza. We did end up doing a little bit of exploring in the morning and walked down to the marina to have a look around before deciding to pack up and head off to our hotel. Things are never as easy as they should be for us. We caught the train to the station as I originally mapped out, no problems here. It was a little bit of a shock walking up the stairs from the Metro station and walking into suburbia – everyone looked at us as if they had never seen a tourist in the area before. Anyway we didn’t let that phase us. I had written down instructions on how to walk to the hotel. We asked a man in one of the shops which way to the starting point of my instructions, unfortunately he told us the wrong side of the street so we continued walking for ten minutes or so before we found ourselves back on track towards the Metro. We found an internet café and went in to print out a map. Back on track now. The walk wasn’t as easy as we had first planned and took us about 45 minutes. At least we are getting fit as we are doing all this exercise with 10kg on our backs!

Once we finally found our hotel, which was in the middle of an industrial area might I say, we stayed there for the rest of the day. We had bought a loaf of bread to make vegemite sandwiches for dinner as we are trying to save a bit of money. The next morning the taxi was waiting on time to take us to the Airport, however he did rip us off but I guess there isn’t much you can do, karma got him back when the guy in front of us reversed into him! The flight with RyanAir went smoothly and even arrived prior to scheduled arrival time. We caught a taxi to our hotel as the tourism desk at the Airport told us that buses haven’t started to Playa Den Bossa yet. Another problem – the taxi driver couldn’t find the hotel anywhere. Luckily she was a decent person and turned the meter off while she tried to find it. She ended up dropping us off where she thought it should be. After asking around we learnt that our hotel actually has about four different names and you have to walk up to another hotel down the street to check in?? No wonder it was so difficult to find. On check in we were upgraded to a one bedroom apartment. It is nothing flash but it is in a good location. Outside our door is a constant nightclub, especially down on Bora Bora beach which we can see from our balcony.

Tonight we decided not to hit the town as we really wanted to go down to one of the pubs and watch the soccer – Barcelona vs Manchester United. Wow what a good atmosphere! It was so much fun especially when the final score was Barcelona 3 – 1. Barca Barca Barca! As the locals say. We are planning on having a big sleep in tomorrow morning as tomorrow night we will be heading to one of the biggest nightclubs in the world “Space” for its opening night of the year. Tickets are about $100 each but to give you a bit of an idea what we can expect it starts from 4.30pm and I am guessing isn’t going to end until at least 6.00am the following morning. I will let you know how it goes!
