Location: Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Italy

MapI've been in the Garfagnana region for the last 3 days - a place I'd never heard of until I looked at my guide book. It's a really nice area, just north of Lucca, and is a valley between 2 mountain ranges - I've been hiking in both. The scenery is spectacular and although the mountains are not as high as the Alps the walking is great. Both days have been really good, but today's views must be about the best I've had on this trip. When I got to the summit today (1858m) I could even see the sea! I found another rural camp site with a good restaurant - there's even grass to pitch my tent. And plenty of Italian Wine - it's so cheap that sometimes I'm not even charged for it!
Tomorrow I'm planning on going back to Gran Paradiso for more mountains. I've managed to add some photos, but only have time for one lot, as the visitor's centre closes soon. (It takes ages to download photos) But there are plenty more to come!
