Location: Berchtesgaden to Prague, Germany

MapA special hello to 7w at Corowa H.S. studying a book set in Berchtesgaden.

Well it's official Biggles is a very sick boy!! The mechanic said it should take a couple of days to fix so we swapped our plush hotel room for a hire car (still provided by insurance) and headed to Berchtesgaden. What a stunning little town, no wonder Hitler decided to make it his Summer retreat!! Found a great little B&B, and as it was still pouring rain, we settled in.

Headed up the trail to Eagles Nest. This place was given to Hitler as a Summer House for his 50th Birthday (must have had good friends!!). Firstly you catch a specially modified bus up a steep windy road to a walking tunnel into the cliffside. 100mtrs inside you reach a very ornate elevator which takes you up inside the mountain into the Eagles Nest. Wow what a view - spectacular. From lush greenery, to views over the entire valley, to sheer rocky cliffs.

Headed back to Munich to pick up Biggles only to find out the part may not be available for a month or more. So off to Prague we headed. Matt had a ball driving on the Autobahns. Even while cruising at 150km/h we were passed as though we were standing still. Arrived in Prague at 11pm to find full hotels or very expensive ones. Finally at midnight found a great one near the city and quite cheap.

What a full-on two days.
