Di’s Travel Diary

Thursday, 28 May 2015

MapOur restful week in Adelaide river is now over. It was a good base for day trips to Darwin and Litchield - given we have been there before and didnt need to see or do a lot. About an hours drive to both. Our friends from Tweed Heads - Pat and Carmen arrived there on our last night. It was good to see them. They are caravaning with 3 others. We spent a month with them last year down the south coast.

We enjoyed the fresh barra at the pub twice whilst we were there. Didnt miss TV either. Tuned it in at the next stop and the only thing we watched was state of Origin - enough said about that! No ABC to watch.

We have spent the last 2 nights in Katherine. As we have been here before and done the gorge cruise we decided to walk to Baruwei Lookout to see the Gorge and watch the sunset. Well worth it and didnt cost a cent. The walk was much easier than we had been told. The sunset was OK - a lot of smoke haze around. We had to make our way down before dark so missed the great after sunset colours of the sky. We probably could have stayed longer as Robin moved at olympic speed as we walked over the sand near the crocodile infested waters.

We head west today, probably free camp tonight. The grey nomads are coming thick and fast now. You need to stop at the good free camps by lunch time to get in. We are booked into Lake Argyle tomorrow night for 3 nights, may stay longer.

I dont think we will have mobile or WiFi so dont be surprised if there is no update for a while. From there we will head to Broome, free camping on our way across so no communication then either. We hope to arrive in Broome June 5th.

Happy Birthday Bev and Kev.

Bye for now Di and Robin
