Tim’s Travel Diary

Location: Algonquin Provincial Park, Canada

MapToday we all met at Tim's house in Barrie to set off on our first Backpacking trip of the year. Tim, Susan and Scottie along with Ryan (Tim's brother), Chris, Lyndsay and Michelle were ready to hit the Western Uplands backpacking trail of Algonquon park. Tim who just lost his job that day and got a ticket for blowing a stop sign was eager to leave the hustle and bustle of the city and relax.

After a two hour drive to the Rain Lake access point we geared up, some more than others due to poor packing of unmetioned members. After a half an hour of repacking we hit the trail. The trail was on an old railway bed and was an easy hike. After a 45 minutes we arrived at our first site.

The site was on the edge of Rain Lake, a short drop from the trail. There was a nice fire pit and someone had left us a decent pile of wood. There was plenty of room to set up the four tents.

After setting up camp and preparing the best meal of the trip, baked potatoes and steaks we relaxed by the fire.. We told ghost stories and had a few rye and gingers.

Once everyone was asleep Tim, Susan and Scottie made a hike back to the cars to coat Lyndsay's car in shaving cream.
