Simon Wilson’s Travel Diary

Wednesday, 31 Mar 2004

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

MapWell, my last week of work this week. Trying to avoid getting 'done' - the ancient and stupid tradition where engineers tie each other up and throw eggs and milk at the person leaving... Why not just say: "We'll miss you" ?? Perhaps that might be too close to showing real manly emotions...?

Apart from that I'm almost ready to leave, just my car to sell and then I'm ready to rock next Thurs.

Feelings? Well not too panicky. A little scared and apprehensive but I'd be surprised if I didn't feel like that at this point.

Have had a couple of practise walks around OTH (One Tree Hill) with my pack. Went ok but my shoulders sore... I'll also have my guitar with me which will make it harder still. Am really in two minds about taking this. While it will be awesome to have with me, it is also an extra (bulky) item to travel with.

So the itinary is: Flying out on the 8th (thurs) via Hong Kong to Heathrow on the 9th. Then it's a week or so in London staying with cousin Kath before catching a cheap flight to Turkey to find work.

Anyway, that's it for now, more later...
