Location: Southampton, England

MapHey guys,

Firstly, I just made the 13,002nd hit on the website, which means that a couple people looked just before 11pm GMT or 8am Melbourne time on the Friday and got me to 13,000 hits. Cheers guys.

Okay, so if you have seen the pictures, you will know that last weekend, on the Friday night, I stayed in Cowes for fireworks night at Cowes Week. It was a pretty big show, especially as far as fireworks displays go, and last at least 20 minutes. There was a long night before then - having only worked a half day on the Friday, I headed to Laura and James place for a pizza and beer dinner, and when Potter came over to the island we hit the town to enjoy the atmosphere. Apparently there are 50,000 visitors to Cowes on the Friday night, for a town that usually only holds 132,000. That's a lot of sailors and other on-lookers. Being the last big night of the festival, there was a real party atmosphere in the air. With a queue longer than you could imagine for the ferries, (typical British queues) in the order of 600 or so, with a ferry capacity of 150 people, I decided to stick around and enjoy the party a little longer. With some fluking we made it into the Cowes Yacht Haven private party with 6 people using teh same two ID badges to get in... good times.

Saturday the weather was incredible. Nat and I headed to Bournemouth to go to the beach for the day, and of course everyone else had the same idea. As soon as we got on the motorway, we need it was a bad idea, and got off and turned around. Instead we toured around a little, getting lost, and then eventually had a bite to eat down at Ocean Village. SAturday night I headed out with Tom and Gerard, and we headed to Ocean & Collins. One of Gerard's mates got kicked out soon after getting in, so we headed to the one place we could get in - The Walkabout. With a queue of 60 odd people, Lyall waved me over and the bunch of us (8 blokes) jumped straight in - who says you need to be a leggy blonde with big cans to get in without queueing!

Tuesday night Nat, Cari, Tracy and I headed to London, in the pissing rain, to see Pink at Brixton Academy. The rain made everything slow going on the motorways into London, and then some anxious times as Nat and I had fun trying to find the way to Brixton Academy. Having left Southampton just before 6 pm, it was almost 3 hours later before we walked into the theatre. Luckily, we made the show on time, and just ten minutes after arriving, the show started. And a ripper show it was, with most of the material coming straight fom the last two albums. A 90 minute show, finishing with Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) followed by U + Ur Hand and Get The Party Started as the two encore songs. Despite spending 5 odd hours in the car to get there and back, for just 90 minutes in the show, it seemed all worth while.

This weekend, specifically straight after work, I head to Brussels until Monday. Three night in Brussels, with a likely day trip to Brugge, it should be a fun weekend, with stories and plenty of pics to come next week.

Stay in touch!
