Hey Tams,

I took this afternoon off and went to the Cubs game. They won 11-4. It was a fun game. There was even a home run with the bases loaded. After the game I went out with Tom on the sailboat. There were 2 other guys, Tom and myself. We sailed around near downtown until 9:30, and then we watched the Wednesday night fireworks. (There are fireworks every Wed. and Sat evening). I don’t know if you saw the movie 21, but it is about a group of MIT students that are in a blackjack tea, and go to the casino’s in vegas to win money by counting cards among other things. One of the guys on the boat was in the real MIT blackjack team that the movie was based upon. He is very interesting and very smart.

It was a very relaxing evening and I am recharged for the rest of the week.

Hope you are doing well.

Wow sounds like an amazing day, all I did was hike up a small mountain, admire the incredible ocean and picturesque landscape! And I saw 21 and really enjoyed it! HUgs, T

Hey Tams,

I am now certified in Pediatric Acute Life Support (PALS). It was a well run course that was mainly taught through anecdotes. I went to the Taylor Street Italian fest for lunch during the course on Saturday…not a very exciting fest.

Saturday night I saw the play “Superior Donuts” at the Steppenworlf theater. WOW! This was a great show. It was a dark comedy that touched on several topics and covered them while making us laugh.

On Sunday afternoon and evening I went to Halsted Street Market Days. Now this is a street festival. The bands were great, the food was outstanding and the people were …well I leave that to your imagination.

Hope you are doing well.

Darryn your schedule is wearing me out! Hugs, T

Hi Beastlet, Leslie Barber left me a telephone message. Sorry I was out and missed your MSN. I am using Dad's computer because there is still no light upstairs.
More on the the big propane explosion early Sun.a.m.- 2 dead. Lots of damage to windows, and doors from the Cemetery to Dufferin. For example, DSS. is replacing 100 windows and a part of their roof caved in.
Golf was good today.
Enjoy, love and hugs,
What happened to teh cemetary?? Lots of damage? Maybe heading to Scottland this week! T

HI there. I am back to reality. Was up north for 4 days. We had amazing weather .. no rain. I can't believe. Spent the time exactly what you would have done..... We had an amazing view of the lake and could watch the sun set until 7:30. Lisa comes home on Sunday .. I can't believe 9 weeks have gone by. Hope all is well with you.

Hey Gerry! Glad you had a great time. I would love to be sitting by a lake or beach right now! No such luck this summer! Heading to Scotland tomorrow! T
From Darryn - Sunday, 17th August 2008, 23:39 (GMT)

I will try to contact my friend Jamie. He lived in Edenbrough for 8 years. He may have some suggestions for you.

Another great weekend in the city. (I love summer). I worked Saturday morning and then hooked up with my friends on the sailboat. They came back into the dock for me.

It was very funny. One of my new friends, Mark, saw someone he thought was me and waved. When he got closer he realized it was not me - but the two of them got to talking and the "Darryn impersonator" joined us on the boat.

It is the Air and Water Show weekend. Chicago drags the show out for 6 hours. It is long and boring and the downtown beaches get packed with people. This year I saw the show from a sail boat full of friends (old and new). It was a blast. The Blue Angels flew low directly over the boat. Also, on Friday night the Navy seals jumped out of planes and wieved back and forth across the night sky, illuminated by sooting flame off their suits and a wonderful full moon.

Today I spent the day at the beach.

Why does summer have to end? My new first year dental students start tomorrow and Danny leaves for his new job at Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale on August 25.

Have fun for your last few days abroad.

So glad you are having fun! I need a friend with a sail boat, but I am satisfied with friends with cottages. Tell danny I say goodluck. Sorry he is leaving Chicago, I know you will miss him! I return home on the 25th, yuck! Sorry you are not in Scotland with me, I just didn't know how great it would be. But you need to come during the festival one year, you would love it! T

Hi my Olympic Traveller,
Are you watching any of the China Olympics? Wow! Beijing is breathtakingly impressive- China has properly "primped for the prom". It sure has grown up architecturally since Dad & I were there in 1986. We watched the Opening Ceremonies live 6am CBC with Peter Mansbridge (our neighbour) and when he came back to The Oaklands he said it was sooo impressive even tho he had to set up cameras in a stairwell NO room) -awesome. The athletes are pretty impressive too. We watched the gymnastics, the swimming -especially Phelps(USA) and his 8 gold medals. Canada finally got a few--female wrestling ,rowing,..
Ok -just a sound bite, in case you don't have TV time.
Love you, Mom
I have watched small bites of the Olympics, missed opening ceremonies altogether but keep track of our medals, and Michael Phelps. I am loving Edinburgh! It is fantastic. I have left booking my plane ticket back to London to long and it will cost me almsot $200 Canadian, but the 4 1/2 hour train trip is more expensive! Crazy! See you soon. Who is picking me up on Monday the 25th of Aug. Johnny, you, dad??? Be in touch! Hugs, T
