Hi Shawn and Brent, I am so jealous! It all sounds fabulous, except the part about the mice, of course. I can't wait to hear what you have to say about Costa Rico. Tell me if you think I can make it on my meager state pension down there. I had a nice New Year's eve with your family. Lots of fun with the kids. Trevor has gotten some acceptances back but hasn't decided where he'll go yet. San Diego and Denver are possibilities. Everyone else is good. When do you plan on heading back.
Stay away from those mice! Lots of love and good luck.
Joany Joan, its good to hear from you! I'm happy to hear you had a happy holiday! Too bad about the weather. Thats great news about Trevor, he's a good kid that Trevor...
If I were you I would skip Costa Rica and head up to the Bay Islands or Belize... Less touristy, less expensive, and just as much fun!
From Aunt Judy - Saturday, 9th December 2006, 02:47 (GMT)
Greetings from ice cold NDak!

Love the pictures and all the exchange of messages back and forth. What a family! I think of the two of you constantly and I find myself constantly praying that there are some really big, strong angels assigned to travel with you as you go to and fro. Truth is... if we could really see all the angels that are around us we'd probobly be down right breathless! Yes?

I've thought about those chickens and know, watching them happily strutting around followed by eating them. Arg! That could rattle one's cage a little as the chewing and swallowing thing is going on.

I suppose your journeys thus far have been quite eye opening. We have alot don't we? I can't wait to see and hear about all the internal transformations that are bound to take place in you guys as you experience another corner of the world. I'm sure that not only will you be enriched, but you will always treasure that you had this experience together. Stack up another one! Let's hear it for brotherhood! I love it!

So stay away from the lava! And listen to that still small voice.

I love you both and think you're both so so wonderful. I miss you. Judy

Oh and come home in one piece. That's a command!

Yeah last night brent transformed into a turtle... Miss you too Judy!
From brady - Monday, 13th November 2006, 04:26 (GMT)
where are you now?
Sauce, Nicaragua. Home to roughly 20,000 people, and 10,000 dogs, 8,000 chickens, 5,000 goats, 5,000 pigs and more shit. Plus several waterfalls, rainforests, volcanos. It´s gorgeous here.
From Miranda - Saturday, 11th November 2006, 08:15 (GMT)

From mom - Monday, 20th November 2006, 02:53 (GMT)
Shawn and Brent...I talked to Ellen tonight and she told me you are spending most of the day learning Spanish. i'm thinking it's so kind of Roberto to have you at his home, but i hope you plan on paying for the food. Also, because it's important you contact the embassy, if you arent' able to let them know you're there, then I will call them, if you tell me to. i'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to soon get to Buenos Aires...get with an accredited program...and stay with host groups, or whatever they are called. i think the sooner the better. you need to get some good nights sleep, and I don't know if you are or not. Brent, please don't cliff dive anymore...i don't think it is good for your body, and it might feel okay now, but the impact it may be having is one you may pay for later. please use your wise mind every step of the way. We are praying for you, and again, am grateful for Roberto and his family, but you need to consider getting to a place where you also have English speaking people...for well. Don't let anyone else control your decisions....stay together. We love you, mom
Bueño Bueño all todo bien.
From Tom - Friday, 24th November 2006, 02:43 (GMT)
Hey guys:

I did some more research. Nicaragua is derived from latin "nicotin," "avacado," and "agua" which means addictive, green water.

It gets its name from the aerial view of the color of the Carribean Sea to its east shore.
From micaela - Sunday, 21st January 2007, 05:20 (GMT)
Hey...i heard you flew to Argentina yesterday afternoon. how's your first day?
tonight we went to the "Beauty and the Beast" that MHS put on. It was so good!
Scuba diving sounded amazing...i'm jealous....but I won't be when you are swimming with sharks and orcas(what even is and orca? they don't sound very nice!)
Guess what...we have a bright future of going to either Disney Land or World! Mom, Dad, and both grandma's and grandpa's are talking about it.
I have to go to
if you would come home if i gave up chocalate i would stuff a bunch into my mouth and never eat it again
Its about time we heard from you Micaela, you little chocolate face. Orca´s are killer whales, but I think they´ve got a bit of a bad rap and its important to get to know them first before jumping to any conclusions. We miss you too. Shawn votes Disneyland and I vote Disney World...a split decision from South America. Anyone else have an opinion?

Brent and Shawn

Ps. Have gotten kicked out of band class yet?
From Micaela Rose - Thursday, 1st February 2007, 02:08 (GMT)
Hey! How are you guys?
I have to write my way to the Writer's I should have some new poems, stories, ect., soon!
Guess what I learned in school today...? I HATE geometry...
and Shawn, I am VERY close to breaking a "Late to school" record...
What IS the answer to-Poor people have it and Rich people want it and worse than the devil and greater than God?
Without saying "greater than God" and "rich people want it",
it could be BOX HOMES.
I'm thinking about you both and STILL miss you
Micaela Rose...and it is not me but Bridget who has the "stinkiest toes"
and I would know
Micaela Micaela, always a good day when we hear from you! What´s with going to school late all the time though?? In all my years I don´t think I ever got a tardy...

You still haven´t figured out the riddle?
From From Mom - Thursday, 21st December 2006, 01:18 (GMT)
Hi Brent and Shawn...thanks for calling on was great hearing from you. The dogs barking in the background sounded like 20,000 inside a very small room. I can't believe anyone could ever sleep there. We finally have all the Christmas lights's so pretty. I'm keeping up the Christmas tree, so we can celebrate Christmas the 1st morning you are back. Don't know if dad and I will meet you in Argentina or not. I look at the globe, and once I am looking at countries south of the equator, I start feeling a little nervous. It almost looks like you could fall off the globe, when I look at the southern tip of Argentina. We are still pondering the entire idea. How soon, do we have to start getting the required shots to travel there? By the way, there is absolutely no snow here...and the weather the last few days, is remarkably beautiful, along with the prettiest sunsets you'll find anywhere. Take care....I love you both. me
Argentina is about a 16 hour flight and you might want to talk to Ellyn about tickets because she´s found some good rates. It´s kinda like 101 dalmations here...the dogs roam the streets at night in gangs. The night we talked to you the main event was on our block. You were on the phone ringside.

Love you all...

From Jody - Monday, 15th January 2007, 03:58 (GMT)

hey dudes,
Coldplay! Wow! Did they sing in spanish/english? Sorry for not picking up your phone call shawn; you were right I thought it was a telemarketer with a 012-3456 number. Seriously. Things are good in SoCal. Marck Madness is prowling. I got Florida beating Georgetown in the Finals. Also Texas A n M and Pitt in final 4. Coldplay concert. Awesome. I'm going to San Fransisco wednesday. Should be fun. Keep up the adventureous stories. Futbol is nuts. Your story reminds me of that movie you fell asleep to back in Bismarck about the soccer gangs.

Happy Easter and end of Lent,
Gage sorry I haven´t gotten back to you on this one... Yeah man the Coldplay concert was a blast... But equally as fun was the Bela Fleck and the Fleckstone´s concert... If you ever get the chance, go. CHAU

Sites seem amazing. A perfect 10. That is what I am talking about. Good work or should I say you are a likable person. Sounds like you might come back with a family or two or three... I hope she is the one after just meeting her. Sometimes you just know. Just look at my roomate Matt. By the way he says hi and thanks for the 5. I painted another beautiful pic of the sunset. DC4C on monday can't wait. Peace and love. p.s. I loved the statement about how brent and you are indescisive or just laid back and can't decide what to do, but whatever you do it is enjoyable and that there is no wrong decision. You guys hit that on the head. Thats why it is so eassy to chil with you guys.
Well its Tuesday the 5th of December which means last night you and a pretty girl went to the death cab for cutie concert.. Nice work, I´m jealous, although I did have a killer salsa dance lesson today. By the way now we both of us live a block away from the Pacific Ocean. For a nice vew look west.

Brent and Shawn,

Hey guys. Hope all is well. We enjoyed looking at the pics. Shawn, you really seem to blend in with your white headband. Karlee says her favorite thing to do right now is color. Kaci likes to eat and roll over. Have you contacted the Embassy yet??? LOL. Sorry to hear you guys didn't get a Thanksgiving feast. Hopefully you guys are fast enough with your marathon training to catch some of those chickens that keep you up at night. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving and we will talk to you later. PB KB KB KB
Patrick, Krista, Karlee, and Kacie, Hey it was fun talking to you tonight, thanks for reminding me about the sauna´s at the hostels... I think tomarrow we´re going ot hike up the big volcano on the island of Ometepe, so hopefully we´re in good enough shape still, we hear its grueling.

From Braun Knutson - Thursday, 30th November 2006, 01:52 (GMT)
After we talked on the phone last night I e-mailed you about what has been going on in b town because we never got to talk about it because I was to interested in what is going on in your neck of the woods. But looking through the e-mails I don't see it so I will tell you what I wrote last night. Not a whole lot has changed in B town, I ended up getting my deer last weekend. It was the second to last day, nothing special but you can't be too picky (4 X 4). The weather is so cold here now, getting to be -25 degree windsheild tonight. What's the weather like there; summer or winter. What's the average temp. this time of year there? Fireworks is right around the corner so I have been getting into that again. (Praying for rain). Shannon is sitting here with me, watching college basketball. NC #6 plays Ohio State #1 tonight.
Hola Shawn and Brent, it's Shannon. Como estas? Hope you are having in awesome time. I think about you guys and hope that you are doing well. I always ask Braun what's up with you. See you later.
Braun's back. You are not really looking a wife and family; are you crazy!!! Have you had a chance to talk to the Swedish girls? I think I am really getting a hang of this praying stuff so I'll keep on praying for you goofs. Have a good time. Your boy,
Braun Knutsiano
I though you already got your deer?? Nice work though. 25 below, wow thats nuts, we are on the other end of the spectrum. Its always hot and humid here. So we are basically always wet. The rainy season just ended here, so now its the hot summer. average temp is hard to say, as there is no talk of the weather. I think its around 80 degrees. Fireworks already, wow that comes fast, This will now be my second year of not doing fireworks, and I definitely miss hanging out with everyone, and playing those guess a number games. Shannon hey, good to hear from you. Hows the teaching going? What you think I should be looking for a wife and a family. Hate to say it but I think I'll let you do the whole wife and family thing long before I begin to think of that... By the way, Brent and I aren't going to miss the wedding are we??
ps. I got all of your messages just haven't been on here in a bit, so you don't get to see the messages until I reply to them-
Adios B,

Looks like your guys are enjoying yourself...send pictures of some hot chicks....I've always wondered what the jungle ones look like. Have fun and be safe.
From gage - Friday, 19th January 2007, 02:27 (GMT)
what up,
I finally got an iPod. What a life changing buy. JK. How's the warm weather? I agree Frech toast is definitely two or three notches below pankakes. Now stuffed waffles at IHOP is two steps above pankakes, so that puts french toast down. Sorry for the salvating tongue you have about now. It's good to try new things though; especially in a differrent country. Do you think France has the best french toast on Earth? What's that internet site where I can dump my iPod songs onto a computer? I know you are busy but thanks for the time. Oh ya I have about 60 pages left in 'Tis; not a bad book.
p.q.r.s. Are your journals filled yet.
Wow, an iPOD! Nice work, its about time... The weather is great, how is it in Cali?

France definitely has the best French toast.

The iPOD site was Kennet something... Just google Kennet iPOD- If that doesn´t work, Jesse or Braun should know, I gave it to them too...

Tis´ Not a bad book? Show me a little enthusiasm... What´s the next one gonna be?

Buenos Aires is awesome, you´d love it...
But not as much as the Stuffed French toast at IHOP-

hi you guys...gosh, i miss you on this day....sittting around talking and listening, but keep thinking of you. Are you making plans to move on to Buenos Aires, or are you going to stay awhile longer where you're at? I'm thinking you might soon want to find a job....or are you on vacation. I have so many allergies, I don't think I could survive with all the animals, and I know for sure, I wouldn't feel good if any animal was peeing in the house.'s great you're spending all this time talking, thinking etc. in Spanish, but I hope the two of you process in English your's called keeping your sanity intact. I'm wondering how you are know....that's what's important to me.
