Mi favorito hija,
Loved to see the pics and so glad all is well with my adventureous nina. Alls well at the greenhouse. Stickering my hearts content. Hola to Damien Be Safe xoxoxoxo
mom ;)
OHh Madre, I love to hear from you!
I am glad the greenhouse is good, have fun with those stickers. I am safe and happy, in Bucaramanga. Will try to upload more picts one day, but the computers here are all slow. Everywhere I go seems VERY safe because there are police everywhere, even special police called polizia tourismo, who give you free maps and information. Very nice and all ready to help out. THe food is great too...the iron stomach has no challenges here. Love you lots, give Dad a hug for me!
From Guero - Monday, 12th March 2007, 18:59 (GMT)
I was watching the craziness in Bogota yesterday, thinking I might catch a glimpse of you. But then I saw the tear gas and rocks and everything else that was being thrown and rammed into the riot police and really hoped that you weren´t in the middle of it all. Crazy friggin stuff, hes such a well liked guy isnt he? Im glad to hear you watched from afar (and that your hostal wasnt dry).
Stoked to hear that you can get started with all your stuff, if Air Canada lost it completely I figured I had enough stuff for you too (way too much!!) Your pics are excellent, incredible orchids, I can just imagine how much you were lovin it.
I just (like 5 minutes ago) got your postcard, muchas gracias, lo amo. And my party hat is on for sure, Perú will be glad to experience us loco gringos. Oh, and I think I might rush up to Iquitos from Pucallpa when Im done school before Ecuador, is there enough room in Iquitos for me as well? ¡Hablamos pronto bonita!
Hell yes there is Guero! Iquitos will welcome all of the Canadians with open arms (I hope). How is school going down there? What do you find most different about teaching in Lima compared to Calgary? Como es tu españiol? Que bien, has recibido mi postale, I did not know if it would make it. How are the PIsco sours? Have one for me and I will see you in May! Now, off to the land of eternal fun!
PS yesterday I went climbing and it was bitchin, I think you would have liked it!
From su tio - Monday, 12th March 2007, 22:43 (GMT)
Dear Heather; the robocop thing sounds cool but scary.
I'm not a big fan of the men in black. Everything here @ Radio Shack is still the same: I can't wait til I get off work. My only joy is reading about Your Andean Adventure!

Love Uncle Mike
Andean Adventure is going good still. I do not think I could have a negative impression of this place, after everything that has surpassed my expectations already! I am in Bucaramanga, a funny city. I was trying to go hiking on some glaciers near here, but the park is closed, so next time I guess.
I should get back to the travel deal, but love ya, give Grandpa and Grandma a hug for me!
From Jason - Tuesday, 13th March 2007, 15:34 (GMT)
Hi Heather,
Your mom emailed me your site, sounds like fun. Hope it continues. Stay safe and have lots of fun. You are missing a snow storm!
Bye for now.
Jason
Snow storm? Well, I am on my way to Santa Marta to do some SCUBA in some coral reef...so snowstorm is a thing of the past haha. Suckers! OK, sorry...I hope the weather gets better there! The fun is all over this place, and what a perfect place to come, everyone things of this country as a huge danger, and so far its everything to defy their expectations. I am in love with COlombia!
Hope all is well with the garden, and you have an excellent season!
Ciao
From Angie - Tuesday, 13th March 2007, 23:12 (GMT)
Pisco Heather! Dude! So I finally visited your site, this is the coolest way of keeping track of your trip (both for those of us stuck at home...where is my home? and for your records). Loved the pic of you and Cata! Wish I could be there inhaling the roast beans and smog with you...so cool that you went to San Agustin! I should totally do that. Besos, cuidate, love the pics!
Angie!
HAha, I love it, I can not wait to treat you to a pisco Heather when we get to HUaraz! I am in Bucaramanga. If you have time, do go to SAn Augustin, I think you would really appreciate the serenity and tranquil scenery it has! The site is handy, and I love the messages, keep em comin!

Looks like you've had a great start to your adventure, despite the missing backpack. The pictures are great, I'll live vicariously through them while I'm sitting in class up here.

ciao for now

From Que anda, chica lind - Thursday, 15th March 2007, 23:36 (GMT)
So what is new? What are you doing around Bucaramanga? Have you been through Villa de Leyva or Barichara? I would highly recommend those areas, you can also get your fill off dino bones. Hey! I just got your postcard and it was such a great surprise! I cannot WAIT to see you so soon, eres una chica bien linda. Buena gente. Eso es lo que dice en Peru. Sencillo, buena gete. Chisme: remember the dealer from Huaraz who was always around? Guess he's in prison, shit man. Que pesado. Un besote a ti! cuidate, cuenta mas! Love Angie

From Velta - Monday, 19th March 2007, 16:40 (GMT)
Hola chiquita!
I wanted to let you know that your pix from the gardens are fabulous! As you know, I love those orchids!! My yellow one has been blooming with 13 flowers for over 2 months now and is pushing thru another 6. Love it! I was glad to hear you watched the festivities with Mr. Bush from afar - especially after what Jared told me happened. Not much coverage on it here. However, I saw that the Mayans in Guatamala had a cleansing ceremony at the ruins site after he left. Weather here has been interesting to say the least. Bob and I were out on the bike last Sunday. We woke up to 20cm of snow on Tuesday morning. It got to +19 on Saturday and yesterday we had freezing drizzle. We have been enjoying your notes and pix so keep 'em coming!
Stay safe!
Glad to hear you had achance to get out riding, but followed by snow the next day, ahhhh...theres Calgary for ya. I am sitting here looking at the ocean, exactly where I want to be when I read that there is 20 cm of snow at home! THe gardens here are so incredible, and I have had the pleasure of seeing orchids in the wild which is truly stunning! As well as bromeliads, lantana, and so many others. I will try to post more picts later on when I can get faster internet. Until then, enjoy the stories and have a beautiful day up in the great white north!
From su tio - Monday, 19th March 2007, 17:44 (GMT)

From su tio - Monday, 26th March 2007, 17:24 (GMT)
Es un muy largo letre, pero mucho interesante...forgive my rudementary espanol. I can't believe You are a diver now. Wow. It seems strange that You could go where they make the dope. Don't the police know where the tour is?

Love Uncle Mike
Hola! Yes it is very strange you can go to where they make the drugs, but good in a way. I guess its too much of a waste of time to go hunting 3 days into the jungle, there are so many random paths out there, and its not like one big factory, just a little shack and a dude mixmastering the coke. The guy who gave us the tour told us he just torches the place if they see military. I am sure sme of them get busted...ahh the war on drugs...
hehe, Love to hear from ya, give the Abuelos a hug and kiss for me!
From Angie - Monday, 26th March 2007, 18:10 (GMT)
Pisco Heather! Now you are a diver, how cool is that? I've toyed with the idea many times but always chicken out with the water factor. And so you enjoyed the beastly trek to Ciudad Perdida? Sweet! I am sure you are buff and tan and hot and sexy all caffeinated and lounging in that hammock, you must be at Casa Blanca? Enjoy Cartagena! cuidate mucho, que disfrutes tambien! Nos vemos en poco tiempo! Besos! Oh, and its freakishly 80 degrees in WI for a few days, hello springtime!
Wow, 80 degrees! Que suerte para ti! By tan you must mean lobster red. I am a stupid gringa and tanned all over, except my pisco Heather stomach is fire red. Idiot! I am loving Colombia. Thank you so much for the time spent to gove me tips and hook ups, they are takin´me all the way baby! I am pretty pumped to see you in Huaraz, Huayhuash wont know what hit it. Are we hittin up alpomayo base camp too? Lets rock it in Jatun Machay also. AHHH I cant even wait! Make sure to pack your party hat, climbing and dancing shoes, and start to get excited because hasta pronto!
Besos grande Bonita!
Heather

Will post more lindo fotos soon, he subido Vallunaraju, MY FIRST ever leading a team of cool people over a glacier, it was alot of fun, tiny bit stressful, but wonderful.
ALso, with ANgie and her amiga we made a sweet music video in our camina...like the cool ones you see of the cholitas, on all of the buses, playing that horrible sounding musica.
Wish you were here, but know you are enjoying every bit of Argentina!
Besos de Huaraz, expect more e¡mails now that I am back in town...
namaste!
